Total Face Mask?

Post by Arizona-Willie » Thu Jan 15, 2009 5:58 pm

Does anyone have one of those Total Face masks they don't want?

I'd sure like to give one a try.

Sorry, I borrowed one from my DME to try at home, and then returned it. You look as though you are still conscious. It might not work for you.

All joking aside (as if y'all look great in YOUR masks, pantyhose, chin straps, denture sealant, etc.!), I have one of these (I bought barely-used for $70 or so from someone on the boards)-- I'm currently using one because it's the only mask I've found so far that doesn't give me badly swollen eyes in the mornings. I have a thin face, I'm a side sleeper, and I can get it to work serviceably well. I would LOVE to have the option of a smaller size, however.

Your profile says you're using a quattro which is full face - I'm confused

He's talking about the Respironics Total Face mask...you can see it here:

I'm going to get my husband to try it the next time he gets a new mask since he has terrible leakage problems with every other full face mask he's tried. So if there's a second one no one wants out there, I'd be happy to take it off your hands.....

I see. That thing is crazy looking. The guys in the picture looks like Hannibal Lecter - but if it helps him more power to you.

I love my Quattro ... best mask I've had so far in about 3 yrs of CPAP ... but I still have problems with the darn thing creeping up and winding up resting on my eyes.

I figure since I have a fairly round fat face I < might > be able to get the Total Face Mask to work. Hate to spend that much on something like that without trying one though. And the insurance is almost as much as the mask...not much point in spending double to be able to send it back.

Bet you could put a wicked paint job on that thing! Of course you would be sleeping alone. Hmmm, perhaps I could have one painted to look like Brad Pitt.

I use the Hans Rudolph, but you need a caliper to get the proper size since the HR full face mask comes in 5 sizes.
The sizes are Large, Medium, Small, Extra Small and Petite.

I like the skullcap headgear.
You can get a free caliper from Hans Rudolph.
Here is how you can contact them onlione line

Good luck.

I do have a large HR in case that is the size you need.

Arizona Willie judging by your avitar you and I have very similar faces, including facial hair although I have some on the top side also . I tried the total face mask awhile back and thought it was a "total" waste, pun intended. I could not get any kind of seal no matter what I tried. I could not lay on my back or side sleep with it.

There may be some who have had luck with this but as for me it would be graded as the worst possible fit, construction and design. I have had I think at least nineteen masks, there are not many I have not tried and even the ones I could not make work still functioned better than this mask.

I hope if you get one it does work for you this was my experience so take it for what it is, just my opinion.

Good luck

Dale

I am a woman, and I sleep on my side.
My husband cannot use the HR because of his nose, to broad at the top.

Dale92 ... that avatar pic is actually several years old. Reckon I should take a new one but I don't want to bust my camera.

I got rid of the beard shortly after becoming a hosehead 3 years ago. I figured I could get a better seal without it. Since then I have gained even more weight and my face is fairly round and fat. I ordered a new Total Face Mask I found online for $127. Figure if it doesn't work out I can put it up for auction for $60 and someone else can give it a try and it will only cost me $67 to have tried it. Some people claim it is great but they are in the minority. Most people don't like it ... but I figure it's worth a shot.

My husband is a hosehead and has been since his accident that broke his neck, back in 1999. That is when he discovered he had sleep apnea. He has had a mustache and beard all the time.
