Welcome aboard !!

Its gonna take some time to get used to !!! But when you do it will be worth the hassle it took to get there.

Hang in there and you will be fine.

Good Luck
Jerry
It is what it is !!! Deal with it !!

Welcome to the forum as an almost cpap user. So your doctor ordered you an autopap right from the start - some here will envy you on that one. Hopefully your provider will do that with no runaround. It would be a good idea right from the start for you to have the doctor give you your prescription in hand (if they didn't already) in case you want to buy anything anywhere else. Many purchase backup machines or extra masks from online sources such as our hosts at cpapauction.com and cpap.com. Once too much time has passed and you ask for it, they may want you to do a current sleep study, so it's best to just get the script early on.

Sounds like you are embracing this change - great attitude! It will carry you far. Once you know exactly which mask you are getting, if you have any specific problems with it, just post your question. Lots of good info already here in the threads as well as in the first topic for new users and under Our Collective Wisdom by clicking the light bulb icon. Good luck as you go forward.
Kathy

Welcome to the message board, surfire! Sounds like you have a smart doctor. Prescribing you an Autopap, and with a range that has a pre-emptively useful minimum pressure setting ( 10 ). Cool doctor!!

Glad you made your way to this board. You'll get plenty of support here!

Hi surfire! Welcome to the board.

Two things to keep in mind:

Make *sure* the machine the DME ordered is the exact model your doctor ordered (it sounds like your doctor ordered an Auto for you - make SURE the machine they deliver is an Auto). Some DMEs like to play games - the cheaper the machine they give you, the more profit they make.

Secondly, if THESE particular nasal pillows don't work for you, keep in mind there are DOZENS of kinds of masks out there, many of which are nasal pillows. If these don't work, it doesn't mean "nasal pillows" won't work for you, it just means this model might not. Don't give up! There are always other options.

Good luck!

i'm still a newbie, but i do know it's all about attitude - keep an open mind, get past the initial discomfort, and get ready for a better night's sleep - even if you have a tube or a pair of panty hose around your head! (amazing what you can get used to when you're tired enough....)
GOOD LUCK!!!!!
