OptiLife Hose Clip

Post by lking » Fri Dec 19, 2008 10:56 pm

Does anybody other than me have a problem with the durability of the hose clip that's on the OptiLife mask? The hose clip on my last 2 OptiLife masks only lasted a couple of months and then the end on one side of the metal bar that runs through the spring broke off, thus rendering the clip useless because it falls apart. When this happened to my first mask, my DME replaced the entire mask rather than just the clip assembly.

Thinking this could/would/might happen again to another clip, I purchased a replacement hose clip on eBay. Well, it happened again last night so now I'm thinking this is probably a flaw in manufacturing of the clip. I plan on calling my DME to replace the hose clip but they will probably replace the entire mask as they did the last time this happened. I have been using an OptiLife for 13 months, other than this flaw, I love the OptiLife mask.

I'm on my second mask and haven't had a problem with the clip. With the first mask, I had moved the clip down onto the big hose because I liked having it clipped a little lower. So far with the second mask (only one week) I have it clipped onto the mask tubing. Eventually, I'll probably move it down. I try not to get it wet when I wash the hose or tubing. It's sad that we have to get a new mask when something small goes wrong.

I didn't have that problem when I used the Optilife. I don't use mine anymore. Let me check to see if I have an extra clip. If I do, I'll PM you and get your address to send it to you. Although getting a free mask from your DME is a huge plus!!

MurphysLaw, I keep my hose clip at the very bottom of my mask hose, where it is when I get the mask from the DME.

Treesap, that's very generous of you! I have pm'd my address to you. Thank you!!!
