Cigarette Smoke in Machine

I bought an auction machine M Series Auto, and it was a non-smoking listing but it reeks of cigarette smoke. I have cleaned the foam filter in the back 2-3 times. It still stinks. What can I do? It only has 210 hours on it.

I would start by replacing the foam filter and adding or replacing the fine filter. They're both fairly cheap items as CPAP supplies go. Perhaps try some Pursleep scents to see if you can cover up the smoke smell. I don't have any other ideas at this time of the morning when I should be sleeping but I'm wide awake! The smell should dissipate over time, but it won't be fun in the interim.

Hopefully someone else will have other ideas later in the morning.

If it was truly advertised as a non-smoking machine and you cannot tolerate it - I would request a FULL refund.

Having been a former smoker I can attest to 2 things - a smoker won't smell the smoke AND you will always smell it.

You can try to mask the smell with Pur-sleep but the smoke smell will linger longer than the Pur-sleep.

What auction site, and who was the seller? Is there a seller feedback mechanism so that you can warn other potential buyers?

GET A REFUND and then return it.

I recall reading a thread where someone used control 3 disinfectant to clean the smoke smell, and I think another said they sanitized it and let it run for many hours to get the smell out. I would also start with replacing filters, hose, etc. if you havent already. GOOD LUCK

The tars and smell from the smoke permeates everything in the machine. It not only causes odor, it also shortens the life of the sensors and other electronics. The only way to get rid of the smell inside the machine is to use ozone -- which will damage plastic and does not remove the smoke residue.. The smoke has ruined the machine -- get a refund.

Who sold it?

After further review it may not be cigarette smoke, it smells like it could be the blower or some weird smell.

Can you return it and get a replacement?

Return it - it will never go way. I bought my auto from a lady who had potpourri in her house. It ran for 80 hours in her house **6 months ago** and sat i the bag since then - everyhting reeked. I ran it for 80 more hours after throwing ou the filters and hose and trying the bleach/cotton ball trick. Have now used it for a week and its vitually gone. But cig smoke has that tar in it - and it doesnt smell like flowers.
