Re: What are you thankful for today?
The wonderful family I've been blessed with, the good, tried and true friends I've been blessed w/thru the years, the STEAKS we are going to eat tonight w/all the other goodies, this house we built ourselves, this wonderful plot of land we live on, our pets and the wild life we enjoy watching, this forum and its wonderful, varied members, the Crohn's forum w/so many helpful members, my Resmed VPAP Auto and accessories - and the upcoming New Year and new President as we watch this current idiot go down in infamy along w/his cohorts Cheney and Rummy!!! Yeeehaw!

Re: What are you thankful for today?
We do not have extended family, either. We have our "family of choice" but many of them spend Thanksgiving with their extended families. We are often invited to join them, but some years we choose to stay home and be together, just the two of us. That's what we are doing this year.
I always try to express to the people in my life how much I appreciate them, but I don't do was well as I'd like most of the year. There are two things that remind to do this, Thanksgiving Day and the death of a friend or family member. This year, the two things have happened almost together as a friend died last Saturday and his memorial service was this past Tuesday.
This year, I am thankful for the people in my life who do not require me to add or subtract parts of myself to be acceptable. My biological family did require that of me and I chose to leave them more than 20 years ago. I am most thankful for the friends who go a bit farther and actually embrace me just as I am.
I am thankful that I still have a job, even though it's only substituting it brings in much needed money right now since we are mostly living on retirement investments, some of which have really tanked lately.
I am thankful that we have elected a new leader who seems to have a handle on addressing our country's problems and is moving as quickly as he can to do it. Perhaps he and still-president Bush could collaborate for the rest of the interim....
I am thankful that I have good doctors who listen to me and do the best they can for me. I am thankful that I am feeling better with my APAP therapy, even though it's not perfect. And I am thankful for the people on this forum who have helped me so much!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Re: What are you thankful for today?
I try to cultivate a spirit of gratitude every day. But one thing I'm thankful for is being able to read nice posts like a recent one entitled "My Life Has Completely Changed Due to CPAP"!
Re: What are you thankful for today?
I'm grateful for the telephone, internet, email, digital cameras, webcams, and all the other communication devices that let me stay in touch with my mother (7 timezones away), my sister (6 timezones away), and my extended family (1 timezone away).
Musicman - my sister, parents and I also grew up many many many miles away from our extended family. It was also just the 4 of us... but not usually. We had a small circle of close friends, and we always celebrated with them. Or we would fill the house with the poor (metaphorically-speaking) foreign college students who had no-one else because they were also miles from home.
I am also thankful for antibiotics that still work and modern medicine that most-of-the-time-works.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Re: What are you thankful for today?
First I am thankful for my wife and two daughters. They are wonderful people!
I am thankful for the rest I have been getting due to CPAP. My life was much more difficult without it. I am also thankful for the people on this forum, who helped me to accept and embrace the CPAP. Before I came here I was unable to accept my diagnosis. I was in denial, hoping the sleep apnea would just go away.
I am thankful that our country seems to be taking a turn back to hard work, logic, and sound reason to be able to compete in the world economy. I am thankful that the last eight years are almost history.

Attaq boy, MusicMan!!! We never have to look very far around us to find someone much worse off than we are - and that makes us appreciate what we have that much more. God bless our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq!!! And our troops all around the world away from their families on this day of thanksgiving.

Re: What are you thankful for today?
I'm thankful for my new life, AC, after cpap.MusicMan wrote: Maybe you can help me. I'll let you go first. What are you thankful for today?
I'm thankful that I got to be w/my sister, that I haven't seen in person in 3mths.
I am thankful for another AC validation.
After dinner, my sister, who was busy all day, w/dinner and taking care of guests,
came and sat w/me. She told me that I looked so different.
She said that some of the lines in my face are gone and
my eyes seemed so bright and
I was just so alive.
I'm really thankful for my sister, I love her, a bunch.
I'm really thankful for my new live.

I said that.

Scuse a bit of Aussie humor creeping in
I am thankful I am an Australian and in particular wasn't staying at the Oberoi or Taj hotels in Bombay over the past 2 days.
DSM
(hmmm must ditch that old British Passport soon as I can)
Have in the past been on business trips there & stayed at the Oberoi.

Re: What are you thankful for today?
Hi Musicman - True thankfulness will come when one give (money and food) to the poor and hugs, a smile and attention to lonely and old people! I try to do what Jesus wants us to do - give to the poor and lonely people. I'm thankful that I'm not a streetchild - my heart aches when I see them! When you start giving you can't stop - hugs to you and have a lovely day - Marietjie

Re: What are you thankful for today?
Hi!
I'm actually thankful for the "hose", even though last night was one of those nights. My mask is getting old, and I had to turn on my humidifier, becuause my sinues are so screwed up they are bleeding, and then, I had rainout and leaking all night, forgot to plug in the heated hose, blah blah blah. But, I am so thankful that my life has now changed because I can sleep most nights.
Grateful that the power company sent 5 trucks when the power went out on Thanksgiving morning for four freakin' hours while I was trying to prepare Thanksgiving dinner for thirteen...
I have a job!!! Yeah! My friend lost hers 2 and a half years ago, and just now got another, making half of what she made before.
My kids are well, my Mom and Dad are alive and , my husband is a sweetie. He has untreated apnea and won't get on the hose, but I love him anyway.
And I am so very grateful for this forum , and all the swell folks that helped me stay compliant and well.
Cheers!
We must always think of something to be grateful for everyday.
