You won't hear me cussing my mask or CPAP anymore
Hey all,
To begin with, I live in south central Alabama, Montgomery, to be exact.
You probably know the Hurricane Dennis made landfall just east of here.
We didn’t have much damage from the winds and rain, except that it knocked our power out, and of that course that stopped our air conditioner and my CPAP.
What a horrid night, with the heat and no CPAP, and I certainly felt it today.
I think it had to be the lack of CPAP, because I have slept in the heat before and it didn’t bother me.
That’s enough of this for now, but you won’t hear me cussing my mask anymore.
Take care and sleep well.

There's an old song that has a line something like "you don't know what you got till it's gone". It sure sounds like you've done well adapting to CPAP treatment. Congratulations! And it's good to hear you made it through the hurricane with minimal problems. Hopefully you'll get power back soon.
Hang in there. This therapy WORKS!!

Thats when an inexpensive battery and a auto adaptor for your cpap are priceless. Gives me 2 weeks to find a source of power. I can always charge it in my car if the power takes longer to return.

What does happen if the power went out during the night and I have no battery backup....would I wake up feeling like I couldn't breath? I was wondering that the other night while laying in bed listening to a thunder and lightning storm.

One soft, sweet song's just enough to clear my head...
storm
Glad the hurricane didn`t do more damage.
Doc asked me if I use the mask every night. Told him unless we are having a bad thunder storm. he asked why I wouldn`t use it then. Asked him how i could use it if the power went off and he said he never thought of that before. He also handles people on oxygen, but they have the tanks in case the power for the machine goes off.
I did wake up one night with the power off from a storm. At first thought the machine had stopped working, then put on the lamp to check and found no power. So, think you also would wake up, but that little plug like on the mask had popped out and it had never done that before. Figure the lack of power might have built up a force that popped it open. Used to wonder what the plug was there for and now figure it to open if machine goes off.

Hey Tenpin......... I went through exactly the same thing last year with Hurricane Frances down here in Florida. No power for 3 days and nights, which was nothing compared with many areas down here. But those were the 3 worst nights I'd spent since going on CPAP 5 years ago. No rest whatsoever. I am so linked with this wind machine now and had no idea how much until then. Shortly after that and before Jeanne came through, I finally was able to score a small 2000W Honda generator that is wisper quiet and will run 14 hours on the singla gallon of gas it holds. Plenty of power for my gear plus a few fans and such. Dennis missed us, but we did feel its effects on it's passing. I'm nowhere near as worried this year!
BTW: The generator also now doubles as a power source for the craft shows my wife does showing and selling pine needle baskets she makes. Runs a few fans at the outdoor shows and keeps us cooler. Now I feel it wasn't a waste at all to make that purchase.

Come on now guys....I kind of knew I wouldn't lay there and die...haha... but was wondering if it would feel like I couldn't breath when I did wake up...and after reading these replies, I am so darn glad I don't live in Florida....it's nice to visit but no thanks to live.
Hey chrisp, I may just have to check out a battery and a auto adaptor like you suggested.
