Respironics Ultrafine filter
My Dme sent me the wrong filters. Can anybody use them #1039606 UltraFine Filter for the M Series? 6 of them for free.
Re: Respironics Ultrafine filter
I can use them. Let me know how much to send for mailing them and your e-mail so I can send my address.

If you have the "M"eries, they have two filters in them the white goes in first then the grey foam on top of it. Jim

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

Re: Respironics Ultrafine filter
Is it necessary to use the white filters on the M series if there are no allergies, the DME said it was not necessary, just use the foam filter and wash and dry every week, but I'd like to make sure, you know.

My DME told me the same thing. Is your DME breathing thru that machine? Would your DME ever lie to you?DoriC wrote:Is it necessary to use the white filters on the M series if there are no allergies, the DME said it was not necessary, just use the foam filter and wash and dry every week, but I'd like to make sure, you know.
I use both filters in mine. I tend to think they want more money for handling them.

Try one for a month and see the color change. That will answer your question.DoriC wrote:Is it necessary to use the white filters on the M series if there are no allergies, the DME said it was not necessary, just use the foam filter and wash and dry every week, but I'd like to make sure, you know.

Re: Respironics Ultrafine filter
Normally the foam filter is adequate, but the fine filter still takes dust, mold and very fine particulate out of the air being supplied. Here in California, we had some intense episodes of smoke caused by wild fires. I asked the DME for filters and they sent me two.
I can see no reason not to use the fine filters, but agree for most people they are not going to have any important therapeutic benefit.

Sounds like your DME is one of the few that know everything. The question is, do you like clean air, or do you prefer cleaner air, which does your nose like best, mine likes air as clean as possible. Jim

"Does the DME Ever Lie"? I guess I knew the answer before I even asked, so in goes the white filter now. Thanks.

Re: Respironics Ultrafine filter
I've used a white filter for a month now. I looked at it yesterday when I was cleaning the equipment and it was still quite white. I put it back in. I'll take a look at it again next time.

Re: Respironics Ultrafine filter
My monthly routine is to soak the humidifier several hours in vinegar, replace the white filter and wash the gray. The white needs it monthly in the summer but not so much in winter (I live downwind next to miles of orchard). Seeing how dirty it gets in summer made me realize the unit is really intended for both filters all the time. I think the gray is only suited for keeping out insects.
