Squeaking Activa

Post by RickSt » Wed Jul 06, 2005 7:48 pm

Has anyone with an Activa had a problem of the hose squeaking where it pivots on the mask? It seems to originate from the elbow where you push in on it to disconnect it. Can I use something like Vaseline or is there something special for that type of plastic? Since I've had it less than 2 weeks I can probably return it to my DME for another if I have to.

It goes away on its own after a while.

If the DME will swap it for another, yes, I'd just do that.

I've had my Activa for probably 5 or so months and it still squeaks.

I put a little baby oil in there and that seemed to help a little but not much.

I returned my Activa to my DME this morning. The therapist couldn't get over how much noise it made so she is sending it back to ResMed. She was out of Comfort Curves but more should be in by early next week. She will let me decide then if I want a Comfort Curve or another Activa. In the mean time I still have my Ultra Mirage to use.

"squeakies"

My new one, 7 months old, had a squeak also.......talk about irritating. Took the new mask out and inserted it into my old, renovated headgear...end of problem. There is definitely something different about the new mask......just not as comfortable as the old one. No solution for you...sorry!

Interesting. Neither of my two Activas have ever had a swivel squeak. Both were purchased about a year ago, though. Perhaps the manufacturing has changed a bit.

Saw these hints on another message board at the ASAA:
I have succesfully quieted swivels by rinsing well under hot running water. I have also used a very small amount of food grade silicone spraying on my finger, then rubbing the connection before reassembling the unit.
