Hi Candy,

If you'll post the reports of your two studies here on the message board, there are probably quite a few people who will help you figure out what each part means.

I'm not any good at understanding sleep study lingo, but there are others who would know what it's saying.

Hi All well I get My Cpap Machine with The Works Tomorrow. Well I had two sleep study test done. The first said I Had 0 Apnea 83 obstructive hypopnea with hypopnea of 19. Doing REM sleep Oxygen Saturation due to respiratory event in rem sleep was 73%. Severe REM related obstructive sleep apnea with respiratory disturbance index of 53.3. Moderate to Severe sleep fragmentation due to respiratory events. Severe Desaturations with Respiratory events. The Second Sleep Study Test was with CPAP Titration they started the pressure at 4cm and in the morning i was a at pressure of 13 cm that was succesful for me . Well my doctor didn't go over the results with me so p can anyone tell me how bad i have sleep apnea. I just can't wait until tomorrow i will have some relief and be able to sleep right again

It does say severe in your report. Probably due to the O2 desat since you have 0 apneas and only 19 hypopnia . O2 of 73% is not good . CPAP pressure of 13 is high but I know some who would kill to be 'Down there'.

Look on the briteside. You know what the problem is and the cure is fairly painless. Not like brain surgery . Just stick wit it and 'NEVER GIVE UP'.

Chrisp,
I think she means 83 hypopneas, and a hypopnea index of 19....

[quote'"CandyADiva"]Moderate to Severe sleep fragmentation due to respiratory events. Severe Desaturations with Respiratory events[/quote]

Means that your sleep is badly disrupted by your breathing distrubances.
Instead of going throug the expected phases of sleep, from lighter to deeper, your brain saves you from really choking by waking you up. Your brain wakes you up because it senses how very low the oxygen is in your body, and it makes you breath properly - as someone said, having Obstructive Sleep Apnea mean you can't sleep and breath at the same time...

Go to this site http://resmed.com/Shared/StaticFiles/-n ... 40x380.swf for a great video presentation of the subject, and to the "CPAP Videos" link in the row of icons on the top third of this page for more videos.

Candy: I am sorry that I have not replied earlier but been out of town. Glad that you are getting your treatment started, just don't get discouraged with the machine and mask, it took a long time to get to where you are at and it will take a while to get to where you can tell a real difference with the treatment. Hang in there and good luck. Hope you get some of the much sought after sleep. Take care and keep posting.

The Respiratory Thep.... said I have moderate sleep apnea with severe rem obstructive sleep apnea with respiratory disturbance and severe oxygen desaturations with respiratory events So I'm real happy to have my machine it's a nice one.
