New Mask

Post by Volcanomom » Fri Sep 26, 2008 7:52 pm

Despite starting off very strong and very compliant with my Swift LT nasal pillow mask, I'd begun having trouble with leaking. I think as the side pieces loosened up, my side sleeping was causing them to push the pillows to the side. OR something! I don't know. Anyway, I went to my DME today and even though I'm "past my 30 days for mask exchange" she was able to give me a Respironics Optilife nasal pillow mask that she had gotten as an advance sample. I haven't used it yet, but it seems just from trying it on that it might be more forgiving of my rolling around in my sleep. We shall see!

My service rep told me that the Swift LT was the " hottest" new mask. It's only been available here in Ontario, Canada for just over a month (so she told me). I still want to try it, so I'll borrow one from my service rep and try it out.

I was hoping members of this forum would provide some feedback on the Swift LT, as my service rep told me that she hasn't heard one complaint yet ( I was a bit skeptical, given that it's a "new" mask) -- maybe in time she will lol

Thanks for your feedback! Here's hoping your new mask works better for you!

I have and use the OptiLife. I like it but I prefer the Cradle Cushions with it as opposed to the nasal pillows. That just personal preference. They are extra to purchase.

While I am not a side sleeper, I think that the chin strap on the OptiLife (which is not really a chin starp but rather designed to stabalize the mask) may help it to stay in place for any sleeping position. You may like it.

I have not used the Swift LT.

Hi Volcanomom-----I use the OptiLife. I really do like it but I also prefer the Cradle Cushions with it as opposed to the nasal pillows. My insurance paid for them as well --no out of pocket on those. I have been using it for about a month now---I am strictly a side sleeper, I think that the chin strap on the OptiLife does help it to stay in place for the side sleeping position. YoI use the small cushion too --I think you will like it --the head strap is easy to put on and nothing goes across your forehead either. Good Luck!

So far so good. I've got some irritation on my nares, but that was the case with my Swift until I'd been using it for a week or so. I haven't tried the cradle yet - Since it was a manufacturer sample, I got ALL the nose pieces in all 3 sizes. I switched from the L pillow to the M and it's better.
