Snores

Post by raymart43 » Fri Sep 26, 2008 6:30 am

If my report is still showing snores during the night, does that probably mean that my pressure is too low? I do not have an auto, just straight cpap. It just seems like if my pressure were high enough, then I would not be having any snores.

Not totally true. It depends on a lot of other factors but treatment does not always get rid of all of those snores.

You could try raising your pressure and seeing if it helps eliminate snores. But keep an eye on the apneas. That is a more important number than the snores.

What is your AHI? If it's "good", then I wouldn't worry much about the snoring. Nothing wrong with a straight-pressure CPAP.....I've been using all of my machines in CPAP mode since I started.....they tell me what I need to know and the snoring and leaking won't drive the pressures up and down all night long. It also depends on HOW MUCH snoring (Snore Index) is going on. If it's in the single digits, I wouldn't consider that a problem. Many times, nasal congestion will record as "snores". If you're not doing a nasal cleansing before going to bed, you might try that before raising your pressure. If you ARE doing that, you might try going up a centimeter at a time and see if the recorded snoring decreases......and the AHI goes down, too.
