Need help with Breeze hose

Post by 4Katie » Thu Jun 30, 2005 12:46 pm

I think I'm gonna love my Breeze pillows, but the hose is driving me crazy. The head gear moves very easily, and the hose keeps pulling on it. The two nights I've used it I've taken it off (or it's come off by itself) after a few hours.

Any suggestions for solving this problem?

Where the hose connects to the swivel I used a plain old rubber band to keep it from coming off...solved it. To provide a bit more hose support I used a plain pony tail scrunchy doubled about 6" back from the Breeze U hose support...have to undo straps and take it apart at the back end to put on the scrunchy...works great. You want the hose to be able to go straight back and be able to flex side to side. Experiment around with these items and you'll be a happy camper... Also make sure your CPAP hose terminates somewhere approximately in the middle of where your head is laying down. You can also support it to stay put in one place with a pony tail scrunchy...I put a nail in the back of my headboard and run it through that. Makes it easy to lengthen or shorten hose as needed to get it Just Right

Hope this helps get those creative juices flowing...

Hi

I hope you like your Breeze as much as I do. I have been using it for three months without any problems -AFTER a week or two of 'adjusting'- different tension on the straps and adding a chin strap . My headgear attaches to the 6' hose with a swivel connecter that allows movement without any pulling unless the hose gets caught on the pillow. This thing is so comfortable that I sometimes don't realize I have it on when I wake up. Don't give up on this ...check for the swivel connecter and keep fiddling with the velcro straps. Hopefully this will work for you.

If you can get the Breeze hose more "stabilized" and your CPAP hose stationary and not pulling on the Breeze it helps cut down the movement of the Breeze significantly (see above...it really helps). Another option: Rested Gal did away with the top of the head straps and moved them down low in front and then around the back of her head. I haven't tried that but it looks like it'd be stable too. Search on the Breeze and see it you can find the picture she has showing it...I don't remember which post it was in.

LOL, I can't remember either, Jim, but here's the pic again:

katie, I retouched that picture to show where I place the straps that come with the Breeze. I don't even use the sliding clip on a track in front, as I like the straps down even lower than the bottom slot on the track. So, I just cross the straps over the front of the hose and stick them to themselves. A person could use a stretchy fabric headband or sweatband and do the same thing.

Notice how I also retouched the hose at the top of the head, making it go upward instead of draped down the back of the guy's head. I run the main air hose (from the cpap machine) through a stretchy fabric ponytail "scrunchy" fastened to the wall above the head of my bed. Just use your imagination and think of being a fish on the end of a slack line - able to toss/turn/flop any which way without having a hose get under you or around you.

Hanging the main air hose up higher than your head prevents the weight of the hose from pulling on the headgear of any mask, and especially will keep the hose from sliding the Breeze's headgear out of place or tugging on your nostrils.

Well, guys, guess what I did last night? I SLEPT! WITH my machine and mask on all night!!!

I tied the hose to my brass headboard (with a lovely red bandana), and used a ribbon to attach the hose a little farther back on the headgear. I also used the AYR gel. AND my new shapeable pillow from Target.

AMAZING!

I also put in the larger pillows, but I think the original ones worked better. So I'll switch them back tonight.

Where can I find this swivel clip you've talked about?

Thanks so much for your help and encouragement!

Going for two in a row tonight...

Katie

Great to hear it worked well for you with your improvements... On mine there is a swivel connector at the end of the Breeze hose which attaches to the CPAP hose. It came apart there a few times during the night so thats why I rubber banded it, which eliminated the problem.
