Apria in Olympia, WA

Post by cpapoly » Thu Sep 18, 2008 10:38 am

I just moved to Olympia, Wa and I will be using the Apria here for masks/supplies. Anybody have experience with Apria in Olympia/Tumwater?? I just want to check since I've read some no so good things about others Apria branches.

Reviews are mixed for Apria. Some of us love them. Others, well...
If nobody on the forum has had experience with that branch,
and you haven't gotten a good local reference for any of other
the local DME's, why not give them a go and relate back your experience?

Regardless of whom you end up going with, add up your out-of-pocket and deductible costs for the equipment you're likely to buy over a year. Compare that to the cost of the same equipment from cpap.com. If your o-o-p and deductibles add up to more than the same purchase on cpap.com, you might consider just circumventing the whole DME thing altogether and just buying on line.

I don't know about the Apria in Olympia, but the one in Tacoma/Fife has been good for us -- both my husband and I get our stuff from them. So if the folks in Olympia aren't helpful, you can always call the ones in Tacoma/Fife and deal with them. Both Connie and Val in the respiratory department are great.

Good luck and welcome to Western WA!

I'm in Lakewood, and I gave up on the local DME's and now only deal online with https://www.cpap.com now. I get about 80% of it reimbursed back from Premera, and the rest I write off to my FSA. That may or may not be an option for you, but it's meant less stress, faster service, and cheaper costs to both me and my insurance since I switched to cpap.com.

Glad to find another hoser on the forum locally! We should have a BBQ and invite everyone in the South Sound to come. Not my house, though. I'm too sleepy to clean....

LOL,
Babs

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

And darn I can't come WA is too far away but I love Bar-B-Q.

MAID? I can't afford a maid. No, I just live in filth and squalor.

My lawn looks like I abandoned the house 5 years ago.

I just installed a new kitchen sink, and it's leaking, and I can't seem to fix it, and the baseboard heater thermostats went out, and I don't know how to fix them, and the mold in the shower keeps asking me out on dates, and....

It's not pretty.
B.

I haven't dealt with the Olympia/Tumwater branch but if they are anything like the Tacoma/Fife branch, you should be fine. If you have any questions about equipment or masks, do some homework in this forum first.

Apria billed my insurance fraudulently which resulted in me not being able to get my equipment for over 6 months. I would advise anyone thinking of using them to NOT do so. If you have no other choice, then make sure they are billing you correctly.

OLD, OLD THREAD ALERT That being said, I'd avoid Crapria at all costs. Look for a local DME, if you can still find one that the big national DME conglomerates haven't wiped out.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

You resurrected a 7-year-old thread to tell people that?
There have been more numerous recent threads discussing Apria and warning users of them.
But, yeah, Apria is a real POS.
I can probably count on one hand and have fingers left over of the folks posting on the forum who actually like them.

I used the Apria here, and they were OK to begin with.
Decent people worked for them, but the Dutch bags at corporate are simply impossible.

My local Apria was great to start. If you are able I would suggest you go in before anything else and check them out. Walk in any door and ask for the sleep apnea department. Talk to someone and ask if you can order directly through their office. Ask if they have walk in hours when you can come in with no appointment and get personal help. Ask if they have a direct line for any questions you might have. My local office had all that but now I don't even know of a local phone number that works. I have not used them at all for over a year. I wouldn't use them unless I were desperate
