Just found the Time Released version of Melatonin at the pharmacy, seems to help me stay asleep better than the regular. Anyone else tried this?

not here, I know my melatonin level peaks at 2AM. When taking supplemental melatonin, I'm try to supplement what I've lost as a result of the aging process. Melatonin levels needs to taper off and be gone by morning if you want it to resemble and mimic natural melatonin levels. Take too much melatonin and it may leave you fatigued when you wake up, that is not what you want.
Ever wonder why in Mexico they shut things down in the afternoon for Siesta time? That is when those same melatonin levels begin increasing back up towards evening hours. IF we didn't have TV, lights and other distractions extending our daylight hours, we'd be ready for bed as soon as it got dark. We'd also get up when the sun came up.

Hmm. Haven't had that effect--typically, I wake up 2-3 times during the night, and I know those sleep interruptions cause greater fatigue the next morning. With the time release, I'm just not awakening during the night, and I'm much more rested come time to get up.

Right now nothing works. However, I have head Valerin works well.

The Valerian that's in the Valerin can work really well, but it can make some people feel a little weird. And warning---Valerian by itself smells AWFUL, even through the capsule. Don't know if that will be the case when it's combined with other things like in this preparation or not. I've even taken plain Valerian at a lower dose at times if I get nervous about something, and it does calm me down a little.

I had to stop taking Melatonin. It made me paranoid and that freaked me out.

Oh, that's what Ambien did to me after using it for 3-4 days. Just made me feel spaced out. Melatonin seems such much milder to me.

I forgot to mention that my college-age son takes Melatonin a couple times a week and it works great for him (although his isn't the time release). He tried Ambien twice last summer. The lowest dose didn't work, so per doctor's instruction, he increased it the next night---he had hallucinations. He got out of bed, came to his bedroom door and said to me, "Please come in here for a while, I want to know that at least something in my room is real." The bed felt like it was flying and the closest wouldn't stop moving. This lasted for two hours before relenting. Needless to say, he never took Ambien again!
