Statins affecting sleep

Post by CorgiGirl » Tue Aug 26, 2008 3:02 pm

Woohoo! I didn't sleep all the way through the night, but I didn't have to take the mask off at all last night. I had been taking it off for thirty minutes or so a couple of times a night. It feels good to have had it on all night!

I'm also fighting other sleep issues and I'm going to try changing from Zocor to Pravachol. A study last fall found significantly more sleep "disruptions" for people taking Zocor because it is fat soluble and crosses the blood-brain barrier. Pravachol is not fat soluble and doesn't cause people sleep problems, according to this study. Since half of my arousals in my sleep study were "spontaneous" my sleep doc figured it was worth a try. Has anyone else switched from Zocor to another statin? Did your sleep get better?

Thanks in advance.
