Bipap ST setup menu

Post by azdj » Wed Jul 23, 2008 4:23 pm

Hi, does anybody know how to get into the setup menu on the Bipap ST? I have tried the different buttons shown for the other respironics models listed, and none of those combinations (or any others I have tried) will work. It takes forever to get my DMG to make any changes, even simple....
Thanks!

Holding down the Right User button and SILENCE button simultaneously for 2 seconds doesn't work?

To exit the Provider mode, press the SILENCE button.

To prevent patients from tampering with settings, do not allow them access to the Provider mode.

that SHOULD do it, but you have to continue to hit the right user button a few times to keep it unlocked

That did work. That is probably the one combination I didn't try. It is amazing with 7 possible buttons, how many combinations that can make! I didn't notice in the setup where biflex can be activated. The machine was set for variable rise time, but not biflex and I wanted to try biflex as I understand it may have advantages. Any thoughts?

No Bi-flex, sorry. You are SOL.

You'r right - no biflex in ST mode. If change to S mode, then the biflex option appears, but since the primary reason I am using this machine rather than one of the others is the Timed response, then I am indeed SOL for biflex. I will just have to keep playing with rise time to get best response. Thanks to both of you for your help.

Yup timed mode locks out Biflex. But, to be honest, I can't really understand why it is needed on a bilevel as the 2 levels provide the pressure relief. Biflex seems like a complication. The main issue I had with it was when set to 3 the resumption of normal pressure was at such a speed it triggered bad aerophagia for myself, but, am a GERD sufferer so would be more prone to such side effects.

Straight Bilevel mode seems pretty good but admittedly am not on high pressures although my BipapSV regularly zaps up to 20 CMs in small burts but interestingly without any noticable side effects. Perhaps the difference is that at risetime 3 (300millisecs) it is not as aggressive as the biflex resuming normal pressure.
