Making pretty fast progress
Making pretty fast progress
As I said earlier, my GF Patty is now on the hose. She's been at it three nights now and her AHI was 15 on the first night, 6.8 the second, and 4.7 last night. First two weren't good nights, but she says she feels better today. Of course with all the education I've picked up here, I think her learning curve will be shorter than most.
I figured out an hour and a half into it that she was mouth breathing, so she got the polident treatment starting on her second night.
FWIW...

How'd you get her machine so fast? I had to wait for MONTHS! I didn't get my machine until the end of April, and my first sleep study was in January!!!
Good work! BTW, you are getting very close on the NAII trial list.
Cheers,
Babs

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

It's called ordering from CPAP.com and doing it the American way....putting it on your credit card.Babette wrote:How'd you get her machine so fast? I had to wait for MONTHS! I didn't get my machine until the end of April, and my first sleep study was in January!!!

Don't tell them, but I used my Rx to buy it...LOL.
I've been trying the Swift LT for the last three nights. So far, I hate it. Went back to my Adams last nite and slept great. I'm gonna have to catch up on my sleep before I try the NAII!
If that Swift LT is available for test driving, I'd be interested.
I'd go 9-11. I'm really into short ranges right now. I've been titrated at 10, and experimenting lately. I got great results at 12, but in trying straight 12 for the past few days, it hasn't been positive.
Last night I went 10-12 and had the best night I've had in a week. I gotta check the stats to confirm that, but I FEEL GOOD!
Skip the ramp. Might be easier on her NOT to ramp. I turned that off FIRST THING. I felt like I was having to suck air to breathe. Horrible.
Cheers,
Babs

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...
Well, I'm sorry, but my experience counteracts this, and apparently so does JeffH's GF.
Starting out at a lower cm than prescribed SUFFOCATED ME. I couldn't get enough air. I was sucking as hard as I could on the mask to get enough air. I tried setting the Ramp, masking up, and sitting up in bed to read until I could get comfortable enough to sleep. It was claustrophobic.
I tried it laying down. Even worse. 30 minutes of that was impossible.
Sorry, but if ramp isn't working for someone, I'm going to tell them to quit bothering with it. Jeff said it's not working for the GF.
Cheers,
B.

ramping and kudos
Kudos to you Jeff for taking such good care of your GF!
I don't like the long ramping either... I too feel 'airless'. So I just do a 5 minute ramp or go on full blast right off. Interestingly, this morning I woke up round 8 and rook the mask off (intending to get up -- right before I fell back to sleep (darn it) I felt like I couldn't suck in enough air.
No need to ramp if it makes one uncomfortable enough to want to take off the mask!!
