How do I apply Mack's

Post by Guest » Wed Jul 16, 2008 12:38 pm

I'm having trouble getting a full face mask to seal at my pressure of 20. I found macks silicone earplugs at Walgreens, how do I apply it, a bead all around where the mask touches my face?

I use about half a plug and roll it to a rope a little smaller than a pencil and lay it on the cushion where you're having a leak problem. It will stick to the cushion long enough for you to get the mask on and set. This should squish the rope out to fit your face and stop the leaks. Then if more than one rope is needed use the other half of the plug. Good luck jim

Just wait. Some enterprising person will get FDA approval and repackage Mack's as PAPCaulk.

I was thinking the same thing... a new product line with the color of your choice in plugs!

That is right about using the plugs. Same way I do when needed.

I have the ComfortFull 2 FF mask which leaks on either side where it touches my chin. For me, the plugs can be applied to a very dry mask, on the inside of the roll. It fills it out just enough to stop the leak.

This solution may not be what it takes for someone at your high pressure. Perhaps the seal between the mask and skin is needed.

Best wishes - let us know how it works out : )

I rolled out thin cords less than an 1/8th inch in diameter and placed them on the liberty mask like parenteses ( ) on either side of my mouth going between my skin and the mask. I kind of flattended them out and they did stick to a clean mask. I also placed a band-aid across my nasal pillows holding them in place last night. It really sealed well--I sneezed once and it didn't even break the seal. I still changed masks about 4:00 AM as the headgear was squeezing my big old head too much--even though I had it fairly loose. Over all another bad night sleep. I never had any problems with nasal masks at my old lower 13 pressure. 20 stinks.

I have been having a lot of luck with the Macks the last few weeks..it has really brought down my leak rate and stopped the annoyance of the little 'fartlets' out of the jawline area of my Quattro. I think I may have used 2 plugs and made a snake and put it all around the cushion right on the edge. I need to adjust a couple of spots, but it has made a big difference.

That's thick! I use one plug to seal the entire perimeter of my Liberty mouthpiece. I use about 1/4 of a plug for each nasal pillow.
