Hello everyone. First time - long time.
I have been in a BiPAP (Bipap Pro 2 /w Bi-Flex) for over 5 years now. In the last few days I have noticed the machine sounding very different. I also thought I smelled something burning. It seems to be operating as normal -- but does not sound right. Now, it's my understanding that the machine is only covered for 2 years. What are my options here? I have Aetna as medical coverage and I am going to start looking into my options. Do I have to re-take a sleep study? Can I purchase new equipment and submit the bill? Also -- What "M" Series would be equivalent to what I have now.
Thanks ....
Equipment Replacement ...
In Respironics, you want the auto bipap - tanks are still sold at cpap.com (would use same humidifier you have). The m series one would mean a new humidifier.
Your insurance and the DME you bought the first machine from will determine coverage, need for a new sleep study etc.
If your machine is under 5 years old (your coverage might vary) then a DME may have to verify that your old machine is broken and unfixable before insurance will spring any $$$ for a new one.
