profile change -- help needed

Post by Ann N. » Sun Jun 12, 2005 9:37 am

I just registered but want to modify my profile before I go online with my new screen name. Could anybody tell me how to do that? (I could not get the FAQ to come up.)
Thanks,
Ann

Hi Ann N.
I'm very glad you registered - I enjoy your posts, and often thought it would be nice to tell someone how to search for them by name... so this is a pre-welcome. I didn't know how to suggest it politely...

You can only modify your profile after you login - and you can do that before you post your first "official" post. The login is necessary to make sure that not every Tom Dick and Harriette will change your profile if it so pleases them.

The icon part on top of the screen is a little tricky - you have to click on the text, and not on the icon itself. Once you're recongnized, you'll see the option to 'logout [yourscreenname]" on the second icon from the right, and that's when you can start dealing with your profile.

You will probably have to login twice, on two different screens before you are recognized.

I believe you said you were living alone (so am I) which probably means you don't share your computer. So, you can tell the system to log you in automatically - that means it will not ask you for a password each time you login from that computer. It will if you're working on other computers. It also means that whoever does login from your own computer can write to the board without any one of us knowing it isn't you in person. But it saves you a double login every time (don't ask me why double, but so it is).

I'm so glad to have you on board
O.

Ozij; you seem to know so much; can you tell me how to attach a picture to my profile (i think they call it an avatar). I've been trying and can't get it to do anything. Emailed for help but never got response.
thanks!!
