Using a Bipap Auto SV and using a Vpap Adapt SV
Wendy,
Goto CPAP.com and order the Encore USB SMC (Smart Card) Reader. I think it is about $139. When you receive it, dsm can tell you how to post your results with the BiPAP Auto SV. You will need to install the software utility that comes with your Encore USB Smart Card Reader BEFORE you hook the Smart Card reader to your PC.

That was my question on why the Epap was so low when on strait Cpap it was on 7cm and I had no trouble breathing against it but it was making my centrals worse. I think that is why they set it low for when I breath out. So I would not hold my breath breathing out.
But that is just my guess.
Other then that I still feel some what tired. But that is because I have been under a lot of stress with school and medical issues with my son. So I have been lying a wake a lot with the machine running. But once I am a sleep I do really well. My husband says no snoring at all and I seem peacful. But he notices the pressure changes when my centrals happen and my breathing gets shallow.

Wendy,
On the surface it seems that the machine is basically doing what the RT set it to do. Stress is always a spoiler & has a *significant* effect on respiration & the results.
It seems there is a tight relationship between your OSA & severe centrals & your may be one os the classic complex SDB examples where adjusting for one type of event upsets the other.
My instinctive reaction to your settings is to raise all of them together by 1 then perhaps later 2, CMs but being an amateur means my advice in the face of your very critical needs, is to be checked out with your RT. So I guess here is my suggestion
Ask your RT why the Epap is at 4 rather than 6 & ask him(her) what raising all settings by 1 CMs might do as far as they are concerned.
All the wise heads here at cpaptalk will say to you to be very cautious about what advice you listen to and to appreciate the complex nature of your situation. Even those of us with the best intentions who aren't RTs are only ever offering amateur opinion.
Good luck

Yeah my centrals did not like the strait Cpap at all. But then it took care of my OSA. LOL
I will talk to my RT about it as well. She even admited that this machine was very new to her. That only me and one other patient through that DME use the machine.
So I guess this is rare to have they type of condition I have? And makes me wonder if my son as centrals. His breathing is odd at night. And he has heart issues and GERD as well. Classic signs of what SA causes. He also grinds is teeth really bad at night. tosses and turns and then ends up sleeping in to almost noon sometimes other times only till 10:30.
I wonder if Genetics with my kids will play out. Reg OSA runs in my family big time. But I am the only one with how severe it is and no one else has centrals pre Cpap.

You should change your BPM to "Auto", as your RT said it was set on. 10 BPM has got to messing you up. And set your Risetime to 3. These are normal settings for adults.wlo2008 wrote:I will call my RT in the morning and talk to her. My BPM is on back up of 10. I thought it was on Auto but she has it on 10. It has gone off and been used. Should I just keep it there?

If the machine is set BPM = Auto, it will still force you to breathe if you miss a breath. That's why they call the machine an Auto SV.wlo2008 wrote:
I thought it was set for my centrals when I don't take a breath and then it forces one for me. That is what it seems to have been doing. My mom watched it for me. she said she would notice my chest not rise and then the machine would take that breath for me intill I started breathing again. And then I would breath on my own. I just want to make sure before I change that Auto will still breath for me when I don't. The rise tims in on 3. So that is good.
You would do fine on the ResMed Adapt SV that I use. And it is totally automatic. There is not even a setting for BPM or Risetime!

Yes, your machine will breathe for you in Auto. Switch BPM to Auto and I'm sure you will be allot more comfortable. A normal adults manual BPM should not be set lower than 12, in any event.wlo2008 wrote:Just want to make sure that it will still take a breath for me if I don't.
Thanks so much for letting me know. )
