Design Flaw with Respironics Mask
This morning my ComfortGel Nasal CPAP Mask with Headgear 1009042 broke. I bought this mask on 22 Dec 2007 to replace the identical mask I bought fromm you on 11 May 2007. Both broke in the identical place - the cup for the little ball that connects the strap to the mask itself.
Once might have been attributable to low quality control, but twice seems to indicate a basic design flaw. Surely these masks ought to last more than two months!

For info only: That can be repaired with 2 part Epoxy, it's a problem with all masks from them that use that ball clip. Even the Comfort Full.
You have to not make the mask too tight, and use "Kid" Gloves when removing the ball snap. I broke two before I learned to be careful, now I don't break them, some are over 6 months old. Jim
Jamming your fingers under the strap and prying the ball out, forces the ball down instead of out, and it breaks the ear's off the mask. Force is applied in the wrong direction = Broken mask.

I never liked those ball snaps. I undid one lower strap at the velcro end to remove my masks rather than use the snaps. It doesn't take any time at all to "know" just about where the velcro end "fits" on your strap to redo your fit when you put your mask back on.
This didn't work very easy w/the Quattro at first until I learned that tightening the upper straps isn't always the best way to eliminate leaks around the eyes. Once I loosened those upper straps a bit removing the Quattro via just undoing one lower strap by its velcro end instead of the snap works great.
