I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has contributed to this forum with some great advice. I went in today for my follow up appointment. I am sleeping better but I am still falling asleep alot when I sit down to watch TV, etc. My ACID REFLUX at night has went away which that is just a godsend. But as I was talking to her it was just very helpful to be so well informed. I told her about the problems I was having and I asked her about an AutoPap to see if she would recommend this for me along with the software to go with it so I can be proactive in my condition. She was very impressed that I knew anything about it. I told her about this forum. She said she was willing to try anything since my sleep apnea was so severe. She suggested the Remstar AutoPap and I told her I would also like it with the C-Flex. She looked at me puzzled for a few minutes, and asked me if I was sure they made this and I told her yes, and so she prescribed it. Being a Special Education teacher I really didn't understand until know how important it is to be an advocate for yourself and educate yourself on your conditions to get the best possible results. She also is wondering if I am having mask leaks at night and suggested a mask if I am still having difficulty that I can try where the full face mask covers over your chin also but I forget the name of this. Does anyone know what I am talking about? Anyway, thank you all again for all your help!

Great news Rockside! I'm glad she is sincere about getting you the best treatment, it seems not all are unfortunately. I think the mask you're referring to is the Resmed Mirage FF. Take a look at it on cpap.com to see for sure. Good luck!

The one she could be talking about is this one FlexiFit™431 Full Face Mask. Anyone ever wear this one?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have tried both........

As stated before "masks are a very subjective issue".

I STRUGGLED with the Ultra Mirage for about two months with no luck...leaks and whistling noises....it always ended up in the floor.

The FlexiFit was an instant cure for my problems, very comfortable....I don't have to tighten the straps at all, no noises, no leaks. Maybe those having problems with the F&P could try loosening the straps instead of tightening them....just a thought. I like the fact that it helps hold my mouth shut almost like a chin strap, only better.

My problem with a nasal interface and chin strap was that even though my chin was held closed, my lips would blow open allowing air to escape, and make loud farting noises (sorry, but I couldn't think of a nice way to put it right now) waking me up and drying my mouth and throat to the point of hurting.

With the F&P mask my chin stays closed and my lips don't have blow outs because there is equal pressure on both sides, no mouth noises, no dry mouth or throat. I even quit using my humidifier, HALLELUJAH...what a hassle that thing is, distilled water, cleaning, sanitizing.

I'm very happy with the F&P but, unfortunately, it seems that you'll have to figure out for yourself which one works for you instead listening to us ramble. Good luck!
