should I increase while sick?

Post by Eleena » Tue Oct 09, 2007 12:37 am

I have been on apap since August 2nd. After alot of adjustments, I have done great with 8-12. I have had bronchitis for 2 weeks and now my machine is recommending minimum pressure of 9. My AHI's(avg. for past 2 weeks) are 0.4 which seem fine to me. I know this is bad but I fell asleep on the couch today for the first time without machine. Is it because I'm sick? Should I increase my pressure or wait until I'm better? Will I be able to go back to 8?

Eleena,
Your machine does not recommend a minimum pressure. It may reporta d different average pressure, which may have risen while you were sick, and it may have a new 90% recommendation - which you can disregard since you seem to be doing fine on auto.

I agree with snoredog - no need to change your pressure.

We tend to sleep more when we're sick - so it no wonder you fell asleep on the couch. Sleep when we're sick is part of the healing process - but that of course has to be sleep with cpap.

I hope you're getting better.

O.

Your AHI looks good. I would leave it alone. The only time I messed with my pressure while sick was when my AHI shot up to like 14. I would leave it.
