Help requested with screenshots from Autoscan 5.7

Post by jaybee72 » Mon Oct 08, 2007 7:10 am

Ok, thought I'd post some screenshots from Autoscan and see what opinions came from it.

First of all check out these compliance stats. Was doing REAL well for a new cpap user prior to the baby arriving! I'll let you guess what day that occured, but here's a hint - I didn't take the cpap to the hospital the first night. Anyway, since then I haven't had much in the way of uninterrupted sleep to look closely at. Last night was the best with only one interruption. I didn't have Autoscan before the baby came, so no good data to look at in detail for those days.

Here is last night's details:

Looks to me like the apneas were not caused by leak problems, but that's what I'm asking your opinions on.

Here are some graphs showing pressures, leaks, and AHI. The first 2 nights the pressure was lower due to using EPR. Since then I haven't used EPR and haven't needed it.

So, please offer any suggestions or observations you might have.

The summary graphs of apneas and hypoapneas looks very similar to mine. Your pressure is lower than mine but other than that the leaks and the pressures look similar as well. If you figure something out from those graphs that is useful in lowering your AHI..let me know.

Do you check your Statistics page? Maybe that will make things more clear for you than the graphs. I'd be inclined to say that you need to raise your pressure but I'm going to bow to the more experienced as to what change to make.

So, please offer any suggestions or observations you might have.
Given that you are a new CPAP user and are having a widely disrupted sleep pattern for other good reasons, its hard to draw too much from the data as yet.

The good news is that you have some nights with good numbers, which is an indication of what is possible.
Looks to me like the apneas were not caused by leak problems, but that's what I'm asking your opinions on.

The leakage spikes at startup and end of a session are normal, so you can ignore them. The rest of the leakage on the detailed graph looks OK except for the prolonged leak around 6am.

In general there doesn't seem to be a major leakage issue and I doubt that it is having any significant large impact on AI numbers.

Personally I try to manage my overall leakage to below 0.1 litres/sec on average.... many nights are much lower than that but I seem to end up with about one night every two weeks where my leakage is higher, for one reason or another.

By the way, you should go into the "Download -> Preferences" menu item in AutoScan and click on the "Do Not Overwrite" radio button. This will keep the detailed data for all nights into the future, not just the most recent 5 nights, so you can then go back and look at the detail for those nights at any time.

Cheers,

Bill

Thanks for the input. I know it is pretty much useless to make any assumptions from the data from the nights since the baby came since they are so disrupted. I wish I had the more detailed data from before he came, but oh well...

I am not sure why there is a second gap in the compliance data a couple of nights ago. I think it is because I changed the clock setting in the cpap that day - it was off by a couple of hours. If you look at the compliance data the last 2 nights are skewed a bit from all the others - they were with the clock set correctly. I guess changing the clock messed up the data a bit that day?

I am very happy that I have not had any issues dealing with the cpap itself! I am already at a point where I feel funny without the mask on. The Activa has been great compared to the Comfort Gel. I also find myself waking up and wondering if the machine had stopped, but it hadn't.

Incidentally, the titration PSG stopped at the 8.0 I was then prescribed - they never went any higher which I thought was a little strange when I got the full reports.

Thank you!
