First night readout on machine display

Post by Flying_Norseman » Thu Sep 27, 2007 3:05 pm

Ok, now that my new machine gives a 7 day average readout on the screen it shows that I had an AHI of 9.2 and a Leak Rate of 32.9 L/min. Thoughts?

I should clarify that means for last night. Since I have only used it once. Are these numbers high? I think the AHI is, but I am not sure about the leak rate.

Your mask should have come with a little booklet. In that booklet is a chart that shows the leak rates at different pressures. Your AHI is high. You want to keep it under 5(I like mine under 1). Did you notice any leaks during the night?

Patience, FlyingNorseman, PATIENCE. (Ain't it fun seeing the data?). Yeah, the AHI is high, we want to see it under 5.0 but this was just your first night. 6 more nights to go before you should try taking any action.

Each mask's allowed Leak rate is different and different at different pressures. bdp is correct, get out your mask literature to determine what the allowed leak rate is at your pressure.

I'm taking a guess that for your first night your leak rate wasn't all that bad either.

Yeah it is nice to see some actual data. The leak rate falls right within the parameters, so that isn't the problem. Like Slinky said, I will wait 6 more days to see what happens. I will probably tape my mouth tonight though. I have a suspicion that when I am on my back I puff out air through my lips.
