Some days, like today, my right inner ear seems pretty sore. We've questioned the doctor about an inner ear infection, and he looked at us like we were nuts. All we get is "No, it's anxiety". My head problems (eyes and dizziness) started when I started cpap, or at least witrh in a couple days. When I'm on it at first, I have to "pop" my ears. I don't know what's going on. It's been a month and a half, and I'm going for the titration tonight. I am a former smoker, and have had some acid reflux, but my pulmonary tests all came back okay. I had these symtoms before I started taking the sertaline, and only take the ativan when I need it really badly. (I think I've had one or maybe two in the last couple weeks) I only sleep "pretty good" the first four or five hours, then I toss and turn the rest of the night awake, trying hard to go back to sleep. I tried Trazadone and Ambien, but neither seem to work. I am always pretty tired it seems, though I never used to be, and often wonder if the lack of sleep is what's messing up my head, as it feels like a major, major hangover.[/quote]

Its your body and your health, not some doctor's. Does your insurance require a referral for you to see a specialist? If not try to see if you can get an appointment w/an ENT w/o a referral. If the ENT or insurance require a referral then get on your doctor's back for a referral to an ENT.

It needn't necessarily be an ear infection. There could be something a bit "out of whack" w/the structure of the ear itself that the CPAP pressure aggravates, it could be sinuses allowing the pressure to the ear. IF nothing else, to satisfy your mind get in to see a good ENT and check things out. Be right up front that these symptoms started AFTER starting CPAP.

No one knows your body better than you do. No one knows how you feel better than you do. Have confidence in yourself and what your body is telling you. Even if some of your problem is due to anxiety, so what? When something isn't right w/our body, we're feeling like crap and the doctor's haven't yet found the answer or are making things worse, we have every right to be "anxious". Anxiety and/or depression are all to often a lazy doctor's Dx to keep from having to actually investigate a patient's symptoms.

Good luck.
