Chin strap question

Post by cindyh » Sat Sep 08, 2007 12:54 am

Hi all, i am loving my f&p 407 mask and hear no leaks at all with it, but the card says huge leaks, the only thing i can think of is that my mouth is opening in the middle of the night and staying open? I didnt think this was possible but i guess it is.. this is just a guess. I looked at the topaz chin strap, has anyone tried it, or any others, i just want one that works well, Thanks

I haven't had much luck with chin straps as the pressure can still get out thru your lips with the mouth closed. I made my own chin strap with an ACE bandage then tape over my lips and this works fairly well. Sometimes you just have to try different things to find something that will work for you. Good Luck in your quest. jim

Chin straps will only work for you if your tongue will seal off the pressure when your mouth is closed. I have a massive tongue, so it works just fine for me.

Frankly, they're so cheap, I would say you might as well try and see if they work. I use the Respironics Premium Chin Strap:
