Well I think I'm back to the land of the living. After an awful night before last I decided to do rooster's "mouth taping technique" and wear a pillow-filled backpack to keep me from sleeping on my back. Between the two techniques I brought my AHI down from 5.1 to 3.6.
I looked at the leak events on my Encore Pro software and the leaks directly correlate to my pressure. I'm thinking that if I can resolve the mask leaks {probably with a new mask} that I will improve even more.
I have a UMFF mask (ultra mirage full face) but really got alot of leaks with that one when the pressure got up high it practically blew off my face.
Any suggestions on either nasal pillow masks or nasal masks. I notice that most of you wear some type of nasal pillow mask. Is that the preferred mask over the nasal mask. I think I read something about getting a better seal with the nasal pillow mask.
I was looking at the WIKI part of the forum and got some good information.
I was thinking that if we had all the information in that area that works for people,i.e. the taping technique, the backpack technique, etc. with diagrams that would be helpful to new people just getting started. It has taken me a long time just to get this far. I am a graphic designer and would be willing to do diagrams for some of these techniques that work. I am a visual person so I guess that pictures work for in conbination with words.
Thanks and gratitude to all. I'm still working on it.
Better night after mouth taping and wearing backpack
Whatever it takes
Have to chuckle at that image, and its quite timely with back-to-school. Pretty inexpensive way to solve the problem - and what's two more straps for a good night's sleep? Hope your improvements continue.

Wow... nice. I'm thrilled to know that you found an inexpensive and simple way to solve that problem. Rosemary was another one who posted a thread about her similar effort. Though her describing the apparell she wore under the backpack commanded my attention a bit more.vdol52 wrote:Well I think I'm back to the land of the living. Me? I'd prefer a nice gal, warmly snuggled against my back to keep me from rolling backwards... but that's about as likely to occur as me waking up to discover that I'm again 35-yrs-old and still mostly undamaged by the life-long OSA.
Maybe I'll try a body pillow velcro-strapped behind and to me. Hmmmm....
I hope your solution keeps working for you.

Thanks guys, I think I'm finally figuring this thing out with the remainder of the ffunctioning brain cells and neurotransmatters I have left after OSA.Me? You are fortunate to have got a warm one, I got the other kind 42 years and getting colder all the time. In my next life, I'll check the temp first.Nodzy wrote:Victoria,

I like the bedroom cold, but it would profer the A/C to be causing it. Jim

I have mostly heard of sewing a tennis ball into the back of pajamas to keep you on your side. I'd need to buy pajamas, and a tennis ball, but I'll bill Blue Cross if I do.

I think you misunderstood. I'm one of those... the single and unattached guys. It's a choice between a body pillow velcro-strapped around me or a pillow-in-a-backpack to keep me from rolling onto my back.
The last time I was in bed with a gal, I think Nixon was planning Watergate -- ok, so maybe not that long.
