I have 2 problems:
1) My headgear often comes off while sleeping. I am not sure how long it is off before I wake up and then put it back on. I tightened it but now have the following problem:
2)On nights it doesn't fall off I seem to be taking it off while I am half asleep. Often i don't remember taking it off and only realize it when i wake in the morning.
Any suggestions? Should I try a different mask?
Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

I have the same headgear, and the same problem. The other night I woke up at 4am and found it laying on my bedside table blowing air into nothing. I'm not sure if it's falling off or if I'm taking it off.
Also. while I've solved the apnea riddle, I've noticed I'm now having a lot of night-time anxiety concerning the mask. I'll constantly wake up to make sure it's on, make sure it's not leaking air, etc. I'm considering asking for some ambien to help me actually sleep.

See ufo13's solution for the Swift headgear. He suggested it for the Optilife, and I tried it. It works. Also, there have been other more recent threads on the Optilife headgear slipping. Search for them under Optilife or Velcro.

Thanks for the tips!
I tried using the velcro strap from the clip but think I will experiment with that again.
i do tend to be overly concerned with making sure I have a seal and if it is still on etc. Not sleeping well for years I really want the cpap to be helpful so I feel better so I probably am a little too anxious also.
Again, thanks for the responses I got thus far. I am new to using a cpap and new to cpaptalk and learning how everything works.

optilife slipping
We have this problem in the lab. I take the velcro strip from the Deluxe Respironics Chin Strap (anything ie. shoelace etc...) and attach it around the back strap and thread forward and around the Optilife chinstrap. it keeps it secure and from sliding up the back of the head.
