Encore Pro 1.8
Encore Pro 1.8
I have been previously using encore pro 1.6, but it occasionally lost data for a few days without any explanation. I now understand, that a new version 1.8 has been introduced by Respironics. Could the worthy members of this forum advise whether the 1.8 version is an improvement on 1.6 and their feedback, as to their experience whilst operating Encore Pro 1.8 version. Thanks.

Random missing data problem still exists in V1.8i
I have used both V1.8i and V1.6i with my M-series Auto and experienced the missing detail data with both versions of the software.

I have the 1.8 version of the software purchased just before cpap.com stopped selling it. I've had my M-series Auto for just over a month.
I experienced my first case of missing data just a few days ago.
If you aren't using Vista, there may not be any reason to switch from 1.6 to 1.8.

It seems from what I've read on the forum, that the Bi-PAP doesn't seem to have that problem......just the Auto and/or Pro models (in the M Series).

Re: would like to know
According to your profile, you have the "Classic"/"Tank" model Auto which have never had a "problem" of losing data. It's the "M Series" machines (Auto/Pro) that lose data.wolftracker wrote:I have a question ... about lost data

Encore Pro 1.8
Thanks for above guidance. JimInAl suggests that he had the problem in both the versions and that if I am not using Windows new software vista, there is no need to switch to Encore Pro 1.8. I would need clarification whether 1.8 was launched only to be compatible with Vista or whether there is any other improvement in 1.8 compared to 1.6, forgetting losing of data aside, which is common problem in both the versions.
In effect, what is the superiority of 1.8 version over 1.6??

Re: Encore Pro 1.8
There are some small improvements but IMHO its not with upgrading if you already have 1.6. If someone is buying new get 1.8 as it is slightly better...Anonymous wrote:I would need clarification whether 1.8 was launched only to be compatible with Vista or whether there is any other improvement in 1.8 compared to 1.6, forgetting losing of data aside, which is common problem in both the versions.

My M Series Auto has firmware version 4.01. (For the curious, the firmware version is reported on the LCD screen right after you plug in the machine.)
I haven't napped with the machine, but there have been nights when I've briefly turned it off with the button so I could deflate my stomach. I turn it back on in a minute or less or leave it off for the rest of the night if the bloating isn't burpable.

Typically, from my experiences with the "Classic"/"Tank" models, a new "session" only happens if there is a "break in the action" of an hour or more OR you pull your card out of the machine. This would also be the case for "naps". If you're up for less than that, during the night, it only shows as a gap in the green time-line. After that, it starts another green time-line and another "Sleep Therapy Daily Details" report for that specific session.JimInAL wrote:My M Series Auto has firmware version 4.01. From a technical standpoint a session starts from an off->on transition and ends at the on->off transition.Wulfman wrote:Typically, from my experiences with the "Classic"/"Tank" models, a new "session" only happens if there is a "break in the action" of an hour or more OR you pull your card out of the machine.
I think what is more confusing is how Encore Pro decides to do pagination. Its not clear to me how it decides to break things up on a new page...
1.8i required for new M series Auto with A-flex
Just a quick note on this software discussion. The new M series auto machine with with A-flex states specifically that only the Encore version 1.8i will work with that machine. So, if you are planning on upgrading your machine soon i would consider trying to find the latest version of the software instead of buying the older version.

Higher Encore version
When I bought my encore pro software it was version 1.4....
Is there a way of getting the higher versions and if so where.....?
Are they any better than 1.4?
