Resmed VPAP III ST Data Download
Is it possible to get data out of the VPAP III ST machine via the serial port to the computer to analyze with ResScan or does one need the ResLink Module? (Assuming one could get ahold of the Res Scan software, that is.)
Thanks.
Dave
Thanks.
Dave

The AutoScan software can be purchased from barry@cpapdownunder.com.au - he ships to the US & his price is about $US100 incl shipping.
See http://www.cpapdownunder.com.au/
I have been using Autoscan ver 5.4 with a VPAP III S & a VPAP III S/T. The latest version is 5.7. This software produces very easy to read charts. There are only 2 that you really need worry about see examples at http://www.internetage.com/cpapdata/ - It is very easy to install & easy to download data from your machine (you do need a 'null modem' cable with 9-pin connectors at each end).
If your PC has diskette reader, there is a patch to stop AutoScan constantly accessing the diskette drive (it does this while checking to see if you have a Reslink module attached to your machine).
Good luck
DSM
I learned how to read the charts from DSM's site. And if you get the software, the help section holds a lot of information.

Does the Smart Data have to be enabled by the RT before the machine records data or is that separate?
Thanks.
Dave
Thanks.

Dave,
Dave, do you know how to access the clinician's menu?

Hold these two keys down for 3 seconds or longer. Scroll through the menu using the up/down keys. The Settings menu will show you what your IPAP and EPAP and other settings are. You will not hurt anything here unless you push the change key. Suggest you write down these settings to keep handy. You can also view daily AHI and leak information by going into the Results menu. The results have to be viewed before noon, as the machine resets for the next day after noon.

Thanks, DreamSeeker. My RT took the clinician manual with her. I saw her tuck it under her clipboard after she had to look up one of the settings, which I thought was kind of interesting.
I went to the CPAP Down Under site but could not find the Autoscan software. I did find another site that is selling the ResScan software though which is replacing Autoscan. Have you heard anything about the ResScan software?
Dave

Dave:
I just received AutoScan 5.7 and reader yesterday from Graeme Henderson at: Deeper Sleep [info@deepersleep.com.au].
So far I like the software just wish my S8 Elite would give the detailed data like a few of the other machines. Don't know if I could convince my Sleep Dr. to change my Rx for a different machine or not, this one is working quite well.
Best regards,
Fred

I think the Elite does give detailed data. It's the Compact that gives only hours of use (compliance only.)
When going through the clinical menu on a resmed machine, no changes will be actually be made if you press the button under the word "Change" and then use the up/down double arrowhead button to prowl through the changes that could be made to that setting. A change to a setting is made only if you press the button under the word "Apply" while looking at that setting.
So, it's ok to explore "Change" to see what a setting could be changed to. If you don't want to actually change it, don't hit the button under the word "Apply." To back out of an item after you've been looking at its possible changes, without actually making a change to that setting, hit the righthand button under the word "Exit."
The Exit button works like the back button of a web browser and will take you backwards through the menu. Hitting the Exit button several times will take you back all the way out of the clinical menu.

DreamSeeker,
Thanks for the tip on getting to the clinician's menu. I have been looking at the results screens and, for now, am getting all the info I need. My RT is talking about switching me to the Adapt SV because I have central apnea but needs to talk to my doctor first. Hopefully it will use the same software. I don't want to spend the money on the software if she is going to switch me to a new machine that won't communicate with it.
Thanks again.
