Getting Best Results From Air Mini as a BiPAP User

Post by Holden4th » Thu Mar 12, 2026 1:25 am

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I've been here.

My therapy is working well using a Resmed AirCurve 10 VAuto (I also use the S9 Bipap machine when I travel). I am going overseas for two months and bought a Resmed Airmini as a possible travel machine. I've used it at home and it takes a while for me to adjust to the pressure but when I do it seems to flow smoothly but I'm not sure that I get a full nights sleep out of it. I don't have to use a Bilevel machine but I've found them so much easier.

I've added a couple of things to the Air Mini to make it quieter and also ease the flow. These include the SleepRes Vcomm and I also have an inline muffler which I haven't got attached anymore because it seemed to make very little difference compared to the Vcomm. I also have the adapters so I can use either my P30i or the Dreamwear nasal cushion. I've used the Airmini tubing with this.

My AirCurve 10 VAuto gives a very smooth ouput and requires little effort with breathing. I'm finding with the Airmini that for at least 10 minutes I'm having to breathe harder, especially on exhale.

My current settings on my Aircurve are:

Max IPAP 25

Min EPAP 11.6

PS 3.8

How could I replicate this on the Airmini which as you know is basically an APAP Autoset machine. It would be great to take this with me instead of the S9 and save so much space.
Have I been spoiled by using BiLevel?
Could the Airmini tubing be an issue?

I've set Max IPAP on the Air Mini to the maximum of 20, min EPAP is 10 Pressure support is a maximum of 3.0.

While I've never used it before could I be using the ramp feature.

Your feedback is awaited with great interest.

PS 3.8

This is the setting that you can't ever duplicate exactly when using the Air Mini...the most exhale relief you can get with the Air Mini is the 3 cm EPR. You can get close but it's never going to be exact.

And yes you have been a bit spoiled with bilevel but I thoroughly understand. I prefer the PS of 4 myself.
