Question about airflow and temp

Post by Electronicsguy » Wed Feb 18, 2026 2:34 pm

A few years ago when I first discovered I have sleep apnea, I got a Resmed airsense 10 cpap given to me because I don't have insurance and it had 3 different masks with it. All 3 of those masks seemed to let so much air through that at first it was too strong for me, but once I got used to it, I could breathe much better at night. My house burned down a year and a half ago and I lost everything, but was finally able to get a really good deal on an Airsense 11 cpap, none of the masks I had before are made anymore so I went with a Resmed F20, it doesn't put out enough air for me to breathe even with my cpap pressure set way higher than my old one, I ended up trying 10 different nasal, full face and hybrid masks. A few of the nasal masks provided almost enough air, but I couldn't keep my mouse closed at night even with a chin strap so I have to do a full face. I thought something was wrong with my cpap, so I took my hose and mask to my mother's house and tried hers with my same settings and have the same issue. Most of the air goes out that hold in the part that connects to the mask but blocking that vent just makes it worse. It doesn't help that I have issues breathing warm air and my wife insists on keeping it hot in our room. I am currently working on a cooled air resevoir to help that. I am attaching a peltier module to the metal plate in the bottom of my extra water tank and a waterproof grommet to feed it 12 volts at 6 amps. My hope is the metal plat in the resevoir and the metal plate that sits against it in the cpap will be enough of a heatsink, if so it will cool the water which will hopefully help as the air goes past it to let me breathe cooler air in my cpap.
