Hello all,
I recently switched from a ResMed P10 to an AirFit N30i. It’s only been three days, but I’ve already noticed how much more snug and secure it feels compared to the P10.
However, during the ramp stage on my CPAP (15 minutes for me), it seems like my exhaled breath isn’t going anywhere. As a result, I’m forced to open my mouth just so I can breathe. I’ve always been a nose breather and have had no trouble with the ResMed AirSense 10.
I’m wondering if anyone else has found the vents on the N30i nasal cushion to be not great at expelling exhaled air. The P10 seems to vent at the front of the nasal pillows, but the N30i cushions have a plastic “shield” on the front, so I’m wondering if I need to do something specific to help with exhalation. I can only feel the out-breath at the top of the mask and not anywhere near the nasal cushion itself.
Thanks for any help — I want to love this mask but I’m a bit stuck.

If you are using a Resmed machine there is a setting for EPR which will relieve pressure on exhale. Check your settings and make sure it is on and set for 2 or 3.

You can turn on EPR.
There are diagrams in the User Manual - https://document.resmed.com/documents/p ... er_eng.pdf
Both masks have a QuietAir exhalation vent on the front of the mask. This vent has tiny holes. You may need to check with a magnifying glass that they are not blocked.

Re: Resmed n30i-Breathing out
If you got your n30i in a fit pack, it came with with two other cushion sizes.
The diffuser between sizes are the same and easy popped out. Swap your existing one with one of the unused ones.
You can also tweezer out the mesh fabric material. Be aware it may be noisier with an airstream without the diffuser.
FWIW, I have replaced the diffuser material with filter material. Worked well
