Re: Tongue sores
My understanding is that effective treatment of recurring sores of the mouth generally requires direct supervision of an observant and informed medical professional.
"There are many types and causes of mouth sores. Mouth sores may be caused by an infection, a bodywide (systemic) disease, a physical or chemical irritant, or an allergic reaction (see table Some Causes of Mouth Sores). Often the cause is unknown. In general, because the normal flow of saliva helps protect the lining of the mouth, any condition that decreases saliva production makes mouth sores more likely (see Dry Mouth)."

Re: Tongue sores
When I first started using my CPAP machine I had a sore mouth and sore areas on my tongue. My sleep person suggested that I raise the humidity level from 4 to 5. It solved the problem within a couple of days.
Re: Tongue sores
CPAP blows my lips open, and the pressurized air blowing though my mouth dries it up terribly.
The solution to keep yourself from "mouth leaking" is either a full face mask, or taping your lips.
Given what you're describing I think you should try a full face mask, and make sure is doesn't leak.
If you give us more info about your machine, mask and settings we may be able to give you more specific tips.
And, as Lazarus reocmments, get in touch with a medical professional, and keep in touch with them.

Re: Tongue sores
Back when I first started using a cpap I had issues with dry mouth. I also had an unrelated issue with canker sores inside my mouth, even before I started on a cpap. A couple of times a year, I would accidently bite my cheek, or tongue, and it would develop into a painful canker sore.LorG wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 5:56 pmI started using the machine a couple months ago. For dry mouth, my doc recommended an oral mouth rinse, Biotène. It helped a bit with dry mouth but one of the MAJOR added benefits (for me) of using this stuff is that it has totally eliminated the development of canker sores. I mean ZERO. It's been years since I've had one and I attribute this to Biotène. The product does not make this claim, but I do.

Re: Tongue sores
when you get the chance, would you fill out your equipment profile? that way, it will show up at the bottom of your posts as mine does below.
as usual, Lazarus has a very good recommendation. that is, seeing the doc. you may want to do as others advise; either increase your humidity or add saliva producing products.
as to sores on the tongue-i have had that happen to me but it was solely due to wearing a boil and bite mouth guard while using CPAP. once I gave up on the mouth guard, the sores went away.
good luck!
