Recently got AirCurve 11, Can I Combine it with HumidX on my F20 Mask?
Recently got AirCurve 11, Can I Combine it with HumidX on my F20 Mask?
I watched a YouTube video and the expert on it suggested that for some people the humidifier on the Aircurve/Airsense isn't enough and so there are CPAP users who augment it by using the HumidX with their F20 masks. Even though I know they're designed originally for use with the AirMini. I wanted to ask those here if they've done so or if that's even accurate. I tried googling to see what others have stated, but couldn't find anything on it. I will probably go to the place I got my AirCurve and ask but wanted to touch base with those here first. So I previously had a Dreamstation and would have a dry mouth even with the humidifier cranked up all the way. Same now with the AirCurve, plus I was told the reservoir is slightly smaller than the older 10 model. Finally, I just wanted to see if this combo would help even the tiniest bit with the dry mouth/lips. Thank you all!

You were told wrong.
The AirCurve 10 and the AirCurve 11 water chambers both hold 380 ml of water.
Easily verified by just reading the specs for both models.
I have zero experience with the HumidX since I never used it. So no help with that question.

I watched this video and you see the guy physically pouring the water into the chamber. I have read the specs and know they are the same size, but not sure how this guy pours the water in and it's a 1.5 oz difference between the two. He says he pours both to the "max water" line. Again, not sure how it's a 1.5oz difference when they're both supposed to hold the same. I'm not an expert hence why I am here. But just thought that was very odd.

Re: Recently got AirCurve 11, Can I Combine it with HumidX on my F20 Mask?
I use the AirCurve 10 VAuto and have for years. I also used the even older model the S9 bilevel Auto.
Water chamber capacity for both models was the same despite some internet naysayers saying it was different.
I have been on cpap for over 15 years now.
I have not used the AirCurve 11.
If someone wants to send me the water chamber for the AirSense/AirCurve 11 I would be happy to verify capacity and compare it to my AirCurve 10 model.
Otherwise I put my faith in machine manufacturers to state capacity and not some yahoo on the internet.

I appreciate that. I hope you know I wasn't questioning you. Just confused how there was such a large difference in chamber size when everywhere I read, it was the same specs.

Re: Recently got AirCurve 11, Can I Combine it with HumidX on my F20 Mask?
Well.....eyeballing the max line filling isn't a very scientific way to measure things. Ever hear of human error and eye balling something maybe not being an exact science???
One needs to use exact amount measuring tool of some sort at exactly 380 ml and pour that amount of water into each chamber and see what happens.
Besides...1.5 oz is only 9 teaspoonfuls. That is NOT a huge discrepancy in my book.
BTW.....I use max humidity setting of 8 and I have never run the water chamber dry as long as the water chamber is filled to the max line each night. In fact after 8 hours of use I will normally have water at the bottom fill line after the night is over and I don't live in a swamp either. My ambient humidity where I live is roughly 40 to 50 %.
If you continually use up all the water in the water chamber then you need to evaluate these things because they impact water consumption.
1....humidity setting
2....ambient humidity
3....pressures used
4....leaks and don't assume that they have to be large leaks to use up much water.
Anyhow....if you want to try the HumidX...then try it. See if it helps or not.
Someone else's experience may not be the same as yours even if they did use the HumidX along with water chamber.
Too many variables involved.
The HumidX disc has to be right at the mask/face level though....if your mask has a short hose to it and you put the HumidX disc between the long hose from humidifier and the short hose to the mask.... it will be too far away from your face to do much moisturizing of anything.
