It is Day 53

Post by thumps » Sun Jun 30, 2024 8:43 am

Fellow CPAP users
I have completed my 53rd day of CPAP treatment. Have had its ups and downs. Using a ResMed AS11. An N30i mask. I think I am doing good with it. Found this site a week ago and downloaded OSCAR. Have been using the MyAir since about day 3.

Prior to the diagnosis of SA I thought i was sleeping good and generally don't find any difference than I did prior. I am using the CPAP as I developed AFib and understand the connection with successful treatment of AFib to using a CPAP.

Initially it felt like I couldn't exhale so I juggled with the pressure settings. They had it set at 5 cmh2o building to 10 and an EPR of 1cmh2o. I increased the epr to 3 and realized that I was not getting much benefit. I raised the EPR to 2 and now I am back to 1. I took off the ramp and now have the pressure at 9.4.

My AHI was 19 on the second sleep lab where I tried a cpap for the first time.
Currently it is at about .7. I usually don't know that I have the nasal mask on.

I just moved the humidity from 3 to 4. The water lasts about 2-3 days when filled.

For me the biggest thing that determines the outcome is nasal irrigation and nasal Steroids.

We live on a farm and are always out in pollen. Shine a flashlight into the sky at night and many nights you will see the clouds of pollen.

Sounds like you're doing really well with your xPAP therapy. Congratulations on what seems to be a successful transition to effective xPAP therapy while sleeping well with your machine.

For what it's worth, many people agree with you that taking care of nasal congestion through nasal irrigation and nasal steroids are critical parts of becoming a happy PAPer.
