Dispose of a recalled cpap?

Post by Starlette » Tue Jun 11, 2024 12:01 am

Hey all.
I have around three recalled resmed cpaps. The ones that were recalled.
How are you disposing them?

Thank you,
Starlette

I am aware of no recalled Resmed cpaps.
The machiness recalled were RESPIRONICS! --Philips-Respironics.
--and the recall meant they wanted them sent in,
(To eliminate evidence )

I stand corrected Chunkyfrog, thank you.

#1 What do you mean by "Hide the evidence"?
#2 What can I do to dispose of the 3 I have?

As to your question about what to do with the three machines you have... We had four recalled machines. For each one when they sent a new machine, they also sent a box with label to return the recalled machine. I did that for three of them but never got around to doing it for the last one. If you didn't get any boxes to return them in, I'd keep them awhile and if you don't hear anything just toss them.

If you didn't get replacement/new machines from Respironics but got new ones on your own, I'd just toss the old recalled ones.

Some recalled machines might be used as evidence
of intentional misdeeds by the manufacturer, in a court of law.
(Should one have the resources to actually do that!)
There should have been a provision
that the bad machines be held by an impartial third party--
But that never happened--and likely never will!

That, unfortunately, is all too common these days.
