Acupuncture and Moderate Sleep Apnea
Acupuncture and Moderate Sleep Apnea
After 3 CPAP masks and almost 90 days, I realized that CPAP is not the best option for my moderate sleep apnea. I am reluctant to try Inspire, although some people really like it. Has anyone tried acupuncture? If so, has it helped? Did you try CPAP first? Any other recommendations for those of us who cannot tolerate CPAP? TIA.

Eating healthy, regular massage, no electronics before bed is what helps me. I use cpap though. I don’t think accupuncture is for sleep apnea. It will help you sleep but it can’t cure apnea?

The OP asked in anyone has tried acupuncture for apnea. You read that, the same as me, right? The OP did NOT say that it worked or even that they had heard that it worked. It's a QUESTION not a crock.

"Asking" about "sciences" like acupuncture or chiropractic is a common practice
to "suggest" they are actual legitimate science--without technically making a statement.
It is a common rhetorical tool used in advertising and propaganda.
Rhetoric is often used for evil purposes. Be aware of it!

Re: Acupuncture and Moderate Sleep Apnea
And why would acupuncture of all things even come up in relation to apnea?
Re: Acupuncture and Moderate Sleep Apnea
For people who can't think for themselves, yes, that's probably true. When you rely on others to do your thinking for you, you get what you get.chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 6:53 pm"Asking" about "sciences" like acupuncture or chiropractic is a common practice

Sort of the same thing that you're doing with your statement putting science in quotation marks when referring to acupuncture, as if it is not a real thing.
I'm pretty sure that acupuncture does nothing for apnea, but it is most certainly a real science thing.

Wrong. Pseudoscience.
1. Be Wary of Acupuncture, Qigong, and “Chinese Medicine”

2. Acupuncture in 21st Century Anesthesia: Is There

3. Meta-analyses can sometimes suffer from the “GIGO problem” (garbage in, garbage out). The publication of a “crappy” acupuncture “network meta-analysis” for acupuncture and chronic constipation illustrates the GIGO problem on steroids and reveals a problem with peer review.

What do you call Pseudoscience that actually works?
Science.

Re: Acupuncture and Moderate Sleep Apnea
One century's science is another century's hogwash.
Remember "humours", and bloodletting?
Things like leeches are the exception, NOT the rule.
Acupuncture is not fully understood, but something
appears to need examination under the bright light of technology.
Maybe another exception?
Some evidence for pain control, or neural stuff, but nothing else yet.
I would need to be desperate to put my eggs in such a flimsy basket.
Compared to anything else, cpap is a lockbox. I trust mine with my life.
