Dreamstation 2 adaptive humidification

Post by Lesgreen » Sun Apr 21, 2024 12:52 pm

Is there a way to turn off adaptive humidification with Dreamstation 2? I use a humidifier tank and heated hose and it stops humidifying after a couple of hours. I don't see a way to turn off adaptive humidification, which I think is the problem. Dreamstation 1 allowed you to turn it off. I have looked through the Provider settings.

I'm fairly familiar with the DS2 having had it for a few years. I don't believe there is a way to disable the adaptive humidification in the menus, but from some DS2 documentation I believe the 'Adaptive Humidification' only functions with a standard non-heated tube. With a heated tube it switches to 'Heated Tube Humidification' which I don't know if that reduces the amount of humidification or just simply controls rainout in the tube. I do use a heated tube and my tank is close to empty in the morning with a humidity setting of 4. The bedroom is cool (lower 60's F and dry). I wonder if your heated tube was not heating correctly if the DS2 thinks it's a standard non-heated tube(?)

Thanks for your reply. My room temperature is warm, usually75 degrees with room humidity at about 50%. When I had Dreamstation 1 I had the problem of insufficient humidification with adaptive turned on, but it worked fine with adaptive turned off. That's why I thought that the problem with Dreamstation 2 was that adaptive was on with the heated tube turned on. Right now the water and heating tube turn on for the first couple of hours, and they both get cold after a couple of hours, even though there is still plenty of water. I will experiment tonight with a non-heated tube to see if it makes any difference. I also may purchase a new heated tube. The problem now is that I get a real dry mouth and throat due to the lack of humidification.

By the way, I have tried using the Amara full face mask and had massive air leaks. Do you have any information about using that mask? If not, I'll make a separate post about that.
