New Z2 keeps stopping

Post by Anth B » Sat Apr 20, 2024 10:25 pm

Brand new to forum. It’s the middle of the night on the 3rd day of a 3 week international holiday and my z2 has just started to stop after about 14 breaths. It will then start again (I suspect due to auto start feature) however the sudden pressure loss coupled with sound of machine/airhose noise cutting out is preventing me from going back to sleep. After another 14 or so breaths this process repeats. I’ve used the ResMed 10 for years with no problem. I’m from Australia and currently in UK, freaking out hoping this machine isn’t about to ruin my holiday!! I’ve just (mostly) gotten over the jet lag, too!! It’s a brand new machine, and I’ve completed all the checks… connections, power, etc
Any advice gratefully received!

Folks, any time you consider buying a travel CPAP *try it before the trip*. Sucks to get there and discover things like this. Here's what I found on the Googler:
If you prefer to start and stop the Z2 using the Start / Stop Button, you can disable the Auto Start / Stop Feature.
To do this press and hold the Up Arrow Button and Down Arrow Button at the same time until the Z-Breathe setting flashes. Release the buttons.
Then press and hold the Up Arrow Button and Down Arrow Button at the same time again until Auto on flashes.
Release both buttons and press the Down Arrow Button once to change to off.
Press and hold the Start / Stop Button to save the setting, you will the word ACCEPT.
To enable the feature, repeat the steps above, but press the Up Arrow Button once to change to Auto Start/Stop and hold until you see the word ACCEPT.
My advice is to turn off the AUTO functions entirely.

While auto start can be the problem so can high leaks or low power. Are you by chance using a battery?
Do you have the right power plug for the country?

As mentioned it is always a good idea to use for a couple weeks at home to work out any bugs and to know IF the pressures for you.

Thanks guy for replies. I did ‘try before departure’ for a week or so and everything worked fine. After the issue presented itself last night I also turned off the ‘auto on/off’ functions. And there were no leaks or loose connections. I was using a battery and ensured it had enough power, however herein the plot thickens. While the battery was showing it had plenty of power, I’m suspecting the issue may have to do with either the battery or the usb power directly from the wall. The problem persisted using both these sources, but after having the battery on charge for the full day yesterday, I gave it a try and the Z2 worked fine for me last night. Altogether, quite the mystery. Either way, at least I had a reasonable sleep last night and hoping my luck will continue!!
I’d be interested to know if anyone else has had issue with low battery or what happens in the dying stages/low phase of battery as this could be the problem.
I’m about to be ‘off the grid’/out of range to reply to the forum, so can’t respond for a bit. If the machine fails at least I’m in the Scottish highlands and a wee tipple may do the trick!?!

This happened with my Z1 when I tried to use both the battery and external power. When I checked the instructions, it said to use either, not both. I now remove the Z1 from the cradle whenever charging the battery.
AirSence 10 Autoset, Dreamstation 2 backup, Swift FX, Z1 for travel.
