DME provided new machine with no water chamber?

Post by davecpap » Fri Apr 12, 2024 9:51 am

DME dropped off a new CPAP machine, AirSense 10 AutoSet "Respond" model. I was surprised it came with no water chamber, they said insurance only covers water chamber every 6 months and since I received one a couple months ago, they couldn't give me one because they couldn't bill insurance for it :) I luckily had one so wasn't left with an unusable machine. They even billed for the air filter pre-installed in the machine which I was eligible for.

It also didn't have an SD card pre-installed, they said the cellular ones don't come with a card anymore. It is connecting over T-Mobile 4G LTE which is good - thats the only provider that works at my house.

It seems new - came with a new bag, it still had all the plastic cling stuff all over it, the clinician menu shows 0 hours on the motor. When I used it for the first time it had that "New CPAP" off-gassing smell!

DME is a small local company that Lincare is parent company of. Insurance far cheaper than buying it online - being charged $8/mo for a year.

I had to lookup what the "Respond" model is - some new setting for a "Standard" or "Soft" response, seems how aggressive it is in responding to events.

"Respond"
Is that in the model name on the front of the machine?
