resmed 9 air blowing smells like cedar

Anyone have any idea on this one? what could cause this smell of air blown out? thanks

How many hours on your machine? Any recent changes? A machine that old probably could use a disassembly/cleaning/motor replacement... motors are 130$ on Amazon, same motor as the AS10. The tub should be cleaned every 6mos and replaced when it shows wear.

it has low hours. i got it many years ago but barely used it as i wasn't compliant. i did try to use the humidifier for the first time recently. i had used it probably 200 hours total without humidifier, and used humidifier for a few nights. i stopped using the machine (i use an 11 in a different bedroom) and went back to use the 9 weeks later and it smelled that strong cedar smell.

Clean the tub with vinegar soak and a toothbrush... rinse well. Never leave water in the tub more than a day. You might consider throwing that tub away.

I've noticed the air smells like whatever the machine is sitting on or has picked up in the past. Cleaners, polish, campground smoke, etc. If the source is no longer present, changing the filter does the job.
