CPAO heated hose for Dream Station 1

Post by alww » Fri Mar 29, 2024 10:22 am

I keep having nosebleeds from my nose drying out. Having a slight deviated septum and a prominent blood vessel doesn’t help. My ENT had me turn my humidifier to 5. At my last office visit with her, she said to add heated tubing as well, and both would help even more to keep my nasal passage's from drying out. She said I would need to adjust the hose to what was comfortable for me. Right now I’m not even sure if my humidifier is working correctly. The air blowing on my face and in nose is always cool or cold and my nose is really cold to the touch all night while using the CPAP. As well as the water in the chamber being cold with the humidifier on 5. I will add that my nose is cold a lot even when not using my CPAP

My questions:
1. Shouldn’t the air, my nose, and water be warm and not cold when using my CPAP?
2. Will a humidifier and heated tube working together help even more to keep my nasal passages moist.

Also I was told not to use saline spray or saline gel. I think because that apparently was not helping the dryness, but possibly making it worse.
I just ordered some Simply Breathe ointment to try. What do any of you suggest or works for you? I have Afib so I do have to be careful of what I use for my nose.

Thanks for any advice or input.

My CPAP humidifier is on 5, the highest it will go. Have not purchased the heated tube yet.
