This is what was written regarding erasing version 1.7:

In version 1.7 of Encore Pro you can change this by going into the Preferences and selecting "Prompt to Keep Compliance Data on Smartcard after download" No need for the reg file.

In version 1.7 the option was moved into the Preferences->System settings. Check to see if its still there in version 1.8

PS Any problems using EPA with version 1.8?

Yes you should be able to import the 1.5 data.

This error occurred while loading the smartcard driver?

As an interesting side note after much "hacking" I managed to get Encore Pro 1.7 to install on Windows Visita. I'm not sure how stable it will be because there where a number of errors during install. I took quite a bit of work and I don't think it makes sense for me to try come up with instructions for others to do the same. I suspect that 1.6 might be installable as well using the same technique. The main key step was substituting a newer version of the SQL server than comes with Encore Pro.

I'm interested in knowing this as well.

Also does anyone have a list of what has changed for 1.8?

I upgraded from Encore Pro 1.6i to 1.8i on Tuesday.

On the Home page there is a Preference option. (top of the page)
On the Preference option drop down, there is a system setting option. On the Systems setting page there is an option to "Keep Compliance Data on SmartCard after Download" check the option on.

BTW my install went smoothly. It appeared that the SQL Database was upgraded as well.

I'll provide feedback as to whether or not 1.8i fixes the "M" missing data problem.

I forgot to add in my last post.

James... EPA V0.8.9 seems to work fine with 1.8i.

Do not try the one on the Smartcard CD, it will NOT work.
You can try the one on the Encore Pro 1.8 CD as it should work.

My guess is that the card reader drivers have not been updated to work with Vista yet. There are many manufacturers that did not do any roll-back drivers and will only write Vista drivers for new products. It's a main reason I'm sticking to XP, although I realize new computer owners may not have a choice.

1.8 to 1.9 to 2.0

Post by allend » Thu Apr 05, 2007 9:54 am

I raised a question about buying a non upgradeable 1.6 and everyone said that the changes would be negligible. However, what about now? Is 1.8i stable enough to buy and what happens to the program on computers with Vista? Will we need to buy 1.9? And when that doesn't work, will we need to buy 2.0?

What pisses me off is that there could be nothing better for Respironics to have that software out and all over the place. It's like the crocodile tears we heard from the producers of Lotus 123, which was the most copied software ever, up to that time. Well, it was also the most sold software app package ever back then. So, what did they lose? They lost nothing, because the more technical people copied it and they were the ones who got the word out about Lotus and its sales zoomed. They didn’t have to advertise on “All in the Family.”

Here, there is a double synergy. Not only will more people buy the software but it could also encourage more people to by a Respironics xpap machine giving them a larger version of market share. This is a no-brainer!
