Ear Pain

Post by NeurosurgeryNP » Tue Mar 15, 2005 3:14 pm

Hello. four nights on CPAP. Doing VERY WELL. Feel great today. However, I am getting ear pain once the mask goes on. ANyone else experience this and if so, how did you resolve it or make it easier. I can't "equalize" with the mask on! Jen

Jen,

Can you determine if this is being caused by the pressure or sinus pressure caused by the drying affect of the cpap. Are you at a high prescribed pressure?
You might try using the ear plugs designed to help with the pressure differential when flying. You might also try putting on the mask a little while before you go to sleep and try to equalize the pressure by swallowing. Hope you can find a solution that works for you.
Sincerely,

I do not have pain but I feel like when you change elevation and need to have your ears "pop". And this did not start until about a week or so after starting on apap.
