Chin Strap and CPAP

Post by tps565 » Fri Nov 17, 2023 1:04 pm

Hello, I am new.

I have used my ResMed AirSense 11 and AirFit P30i daily since June 2023 and a chin strap since Aug 2023 because my mouth is always open overnight.

Last October 23, I started dizzy, and still now.

Which one is to blame? CPAP or Chin Strap

Today, I decided to stop using them for a week. See how I feel. Of course, I'll post this next week with my results.

Let me know if you have any experience like this. I appreciate it.

Tom

You do know that there are lots of causes for dizziness or vertigo that are totally unrelated to cpap use???

Why blame cpap? For approx 5 months you used it without any dizzy issues.

And I do have LOTS of experience with dizziness/vertigo but it's from something called BPPV
https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/ ... 20movement.

and it's not made worse or better with cpap use.

See your doctor ASAP.

I agree.
Not cpap, or the chin strap.
Do see your doctor.
It is likely one of a thousand other possibilities.
Dizziness is no fun.

i've been at "that age" for some time now where i get vertigo from time to time. fortunately, i find this works for me-

i'm given to understand this doesn't work for everyone, but you might try it.

good luck!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Scroll down this page a list until the potential causes (and it's a log list) of dizziness/vertigo shows.

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-con ... c-20371787

Now there are a few people who start cpap and immediately the dizziness shows up because it is related to inner ear issues triggered by air getting into the inner ear and upsetting things.
The key word here is "immediate"....
When someone has dizziness pop up months or years later.....unlikely it is anything related to cpap
and even if it was...end result is still "you need to see a doctor".
