Aircurve 10 vauto: adjusting pressure settings

Post by robert-tim » Thu Jul 13, 2023 10:58 am

I recently purchased an Aircurve 10 used, so no support came with it. In the first two nights of its use, including last night, AHI was 5.7 and 9.6 respectively. The first night was acceptable but the second is a little high.
The only settings that I changed were to make IPAP 15 and EPAP 10. I had reviewed some messages on this site and thought that might be about right.
According to OSCAR, AHI for 4:15 to 4:50 last night was 0 - 1, so it should be possible to achieve better performance. I'm using a mask that I have not used before, so perhaps I'm not wearing it properly. In any case, if this information is enough to indicate that the pressure settings are considerably off, I'll try that as soon as I see the recommendations.

According to OSCAR,
would behoove you to post those oscar charts here so the forum can look them over.

good luck!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Please do post them! You'll need to use an image-hosting site like Imgur, because the forum is at its capacity for attachments.

Close, but not quite. Read through this.

Put your machine in VAuto mode, PS of 3, MinEPAP 10, MaxIPAP 25, and report back.

To follow up on palerider's comment, when you post your next chart, please include all and only these graphs:

Events
Flow rate
Pressure (not mask pressure)
Leaks
Flow limitations
Snores.

I need to find out how to post data from OSCAR that includes only this. Will do.
Last night with these settings AHI was 8.4, but near zero until a potty trip at 2:20 and then high for a couple of hours before settling down again. Something to do with the mask? I hope you can provide some insight after you see the graph.

I think I'll see if these anomalous results are repeated before wasting my time and everyone else's. Perhaps I rolled over on the hose or something.

Last night my AHI was 4.2, so I think I'll stick with this equipment and pressure settings unless there's reason to change them in the future. This is 10% of what it would be without treatment (42).

Don't settle for 4.2. That's almost at a level that would be diagnosed as mild apnea. Try again posting a daily chart. In an earlier post, I listed the graphs to include (and don't include any others). I should also have mentioned that you should include the left panel, which contains some potentially useful information.

Using the same settings as the previous night, I obtained an AHI of 1.62. Perhaps the mask was not adjusted properly the previous night? I don't know. Anyhow I think this image meets the requirements--in any case it has the values it's supposed to have, and includes the left panel.
