It's the Mask Stupid!
It's the Mask Stupid!
I have been using Resmed Airsense 10 since January 2023. My persistent complain was the usage data recorded was most of the time much less than the therapy hours. I sleep between six and half hours to seven hours every night. Many nights the usage hours on MyAir were less than four hours. OSCAR shows breaks in data recording, sometimes more than 30 times during therapy hour. I complained to my doctor and to DME provider. They as well as many replies to my earlier posting on the subject pointed out leaks and internal clock. Unfortunately, they were all wrong. None of them examined my OSCAR data carefully.
Six nights ago I changed my mask from nasal pillow to nasal mask and my problem disappeared like magic. See the attached files. My interpretation on what is happening: CPAP machine closely examine small fluctuations caused by breathing and the algorithm interprets my data. In my case, my breathing pattern was wrongly interpreted that led to unnecessary stoppage of data recording when using nasal pillow. Apparently, changing mask to nasal pillow changed the pattern of the pressure fluctuation that prevented the unnecessary stoppage in recording.

Files?
Re: It's the Mask Stupid!
I'm not really clear on exactly what changed here.

Read the sticky posts at the top of the forum listing *before* trying to 'attach files'.

Re: It's the Mask Stupid!
You may be comparing the most recent night to a 30 day average--which is the default.
You have to reset "period" to get the numbers to agree.
Also note that the time is expressed as minutes and seconds on the first page,
but later on as a decimal.
Note: Run hours will always be greater than usage hours, because of warm up/cool down cycles.

I don't usually suggest psychotherapy, but it sounds like you have thoughts of being in danger.
You need to work through your trauma--whatever it takes.
Giving up on cpap is not an option.

Re: It's the Mask Stupid!
chunkyfrog, Here is a clear statement: Previously usage data used to be much less therapy hours (less than 4 ). Now, with change of mask improves everything. Where did you see trauma? I didn't give up on CPAP, I improved performance.

Re: It's the Mask Stupid!
I don't think your interpretation is correct. Changes in breathing patterns don't cause the machine to suspend recording - that would be pointless. I think it's far more likely that you were turning the machine off (perhaps due to discomfort) but doing it in your sleep so you don't remember. Now that you have a more comfortable mask you don't experience the discomfort and consequently you're sleeping through with no interruption.mhuq wrote: ↑Sun Jul 02, 2023 5:44 am...

With nasal pillow, usage data were usually much less than therapy hours, as shown by June 16 image. With nasal mask situation improved tremendously as shown by June 30 image.
